ABC NEWS' "NIGHTLINE" AND TED KOPPEL TO PAY TRIBUTE
TO BARBARA WALTERS, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16
Ted Koppel will pay tribute to Barbara Walters and her 25 years on ABC News' "20/20" with a special edition of ABC News' "Nightline," THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 16 (11:35 p.m., ET). As Ms. Walters prepares to embark on a new phase of her career, Mr. Koppel will turn the cameras on her as they reminisce over the last 25 years and some of her more notable interviews.
Some of Ms. Walters' ABC News colleagues -- Peter Jennings, Diane Sawyer and Sam Donaldson, along with NBC's Tom Brokaw and Jane Pauley and CBS' Dan Rather and Lesley Stahl -- will also participate in the broadcast, providing their thoughts and memories of Walters. The show will also feature congratulatory messages from recent interview subjects, including Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and actor John Travolta.
This special edition of "Nightline" comes a day before "25 on 20/20," a special two-hour retrospective to air on "20/20" on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET). Ms. Walters' last appearance as co-anchor of "20/20" will be on Friday, September 24.
Ted Koppel is the anchor and managing editor of "Nightline." Leroy Sievers and Tom Bettag are the executive producers. "Nightline airs at 11:35 p.m., ET, weeknights on the ABC Television Network.
