Showtime and MGM Create Unique Multi-Tiered Promotion For Gavin Degraw's Appearance on 'Dead Like Me'

NEW YORK, Sept. 7 -- Showtime Networks and MGM Television Entertainment have joined forces in a promotional campaign introducing Emmy Award-nominated TV series "Dead Like Me" to fans of breakout New York club musician Gavin DeGraw. DeGraw has developed a burgeoning national following, with his music videos currently in rotation on MTV. Described by Time Out NY as "destined for stardom," DeGraw will appear as a street musician on the Oct. 24 episode of "Dead Like Me," performing the title track from his debut album, "Chariot."

The DeGraw promotion runs from Sept. 7 through Oct. 1, coinciding with the release of DeGraw's "Chariot Stripped," a limited-edition double-disc re-packaging that includes an acoustic re-recording of "Chariot." Consumers can win a trip to see DeGraw perform live in a private concert, hosted by MGM, at Culver City Studios in Los Angeles. The contest winner will receive hotel and ground transportation from MGM with airfare from Orbitz, a leading online travel site.

The sweepstakes will be supported with 30-second spots on MTV and MTV 2 from Sept. 13 to Sept. 25, and on SHOWTIME and its multiplex services from Sept. 7 to Oct. 1. Consumers can register for the sweepstakes on Showtime Networks' website http://www.sho.com.

Additionally, Showtime Networks and MGM have forged an alliance with DeGraw's label, J Records, and with Sam Goody, a leading national retailer of music, movies, video games, books and other entertainment-related products. Approximately 700 Sam Goody stores nationwide will promote "Dead Like Me," DeGraw's CD and guest appearance on the show, and the SHOWTIME/MGM consumer sweepstakes.

DeGraw's smart pop sound is a natural fit for "Dead Like Me," which features composer Stewart Copeland, a former member of The Police whose work has been nominated for an Emmy(R) Award in the category of Outstanding Music Composition for a Series - Dramatic Underscore.

DeGraw's "Chariot" has just been certified as a "Gold" record. Gavin DeGraw's current single "I Don't Want To Be" is currently enjoying success at radio holding positions in the top ten at three radio formats: Hot AC, Adult Top 40 and Modern AC. He is currently on a sold-out national US tour, and has appeared on "The Late Show" with David Letterman, "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, "Regis & Kelly," "Last Call" with Carson Daly, "The Late Late Show" with Craig Kilborn, "Good Morning America" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," among other national TV shows.
