ABC Schedules Two-Hour 'Line of Fire' Special
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- While it's not expected to return for a second season, fans of "Line of Fire" can take solace in the fact ABC plans to burn off the series' final two episodes on Sunday, May 30 starting at 9:00/8:00c.

The two-parter, entitled "Eminence Front, Parts 1 & 2," encompasses two of the four unaired episodes of the series. ABC is not expected to show the remaining shelved installments.

The news was announced via press release this afternoon:

"LINE OF FIRE" AIRS AS A TWO-HOUR "ABC PREMIERE EVENT," SUNDAY, MAY 30

ABC presents a special premiere movie event, "Line of Fire: Eminence Front, Parts 1 & 2," offering a fast-paced look inside the gritty, parallel worlds of the FBI and an organized crime syndicate, SUNDAY, MAY 30 (9:00 -11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

In the city of Richmond, Virginia, the Malloy Crime Syndicate is run by Jonah Malloy (David Paymer), a compelling but dangerous father figure who will stop at nothing to gain entre into the city's elite society while simultaneously extorting small businesses. The FBI has a branch in Richmond as well. That organization, with some of the brightest and most dedicated lawmen in the land, is also run by a charismatic but flawed leader, Special-Agent-in-Charge, Lisa Cohen (Leslie Hope). Her newest charge is rookie Agent Paige Van Doren (Leslie Bibb) who, with an unwavering moral center, has come to this job on a deeply personal mission. Both of these Titanic organizations exist side-by-side, completely aware of each other but unable -- or perhaps unwilling -- to completely destroy the enemy in their way.

In "Eminence Front, Part 1," FBI Agent Jennifer Sampson (Julie Ann Emery) suffers a traumatic loss when her daughter (Jaycee Porter) is tragically caught in the crossfire of a hit intended for Sampson. When Agent Paige Van Doren fields the call about the shooting and brings in Agent Amiel MacArthur (Michael Irby), an intense manhunt for the shooter kicks into gear. Sampson's daughter, in critical condition, needs surgery that could leave her brain-damaged, and Sampson and her husband, Carl (Sean Mahon), disagree on how to proceed. Meanwhile, crime boss Jonah Malloy, a vicious antagonist but dedicated family man, is in New York for a big mob consortium when he gets some harsh and unexpected news -- his wife, Janet (Kristin Shaw), has been raped.

In "Eminence Front, Part 2," Malloy's worst instincts are brought out when his right hand man, Donovan Stubbin (Brian Goodman), informs him that his wife's rapist -- a thug named Larry (William Mapother) -- is the cousin of one of Malloy's own men, Leon (Steve Kozlowski). Malloy sends Stubbin after Larry, whose cousin, Leon, is now forced to choose between family by blood - and family by association. Meanwhile, the search for the shooter of Special Agent Sampson's daughter continues.

"Line of Fire" stars Leslie Bibb as FBI Agent Paige Van Doren, Anson Mount as Roy Ravelle, Leslie Hope as Lisa Cohen, Jeffrey D. Sams as Todd Stevens, Julie Ann Emery as Jennifer Sampson, Brian Goodman as Donovan Stubbin, Michael Irby as Amiel MacArthur, Kristen Shaw as Janet Malloy and David Paymer as Jonah Malloy.
