CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS made its first drama pickup for midseason 2004 as the Eye has greenlighted eight episodes of "Century City" in addition to its pilot.
The series, which comes from Universal Television, revolves around a small L.A.-based law firm in the year 2053. Paul Attanasio, Katie Jacobs and writer Ed Zuckerman are the executive producers on the project which the trio asserts will have an upbeat, rather than post-apocalyptic, approach to the future.
Nestor Carbonell, Viola Davis, Hector Elizondo and Eric Schaeffer play the firm heads Crane, Constable, McNeil and Montero respectively with Ioan Gruffudd and Kristin Lehman as young associates.
Production on the series is set to begin in October for a likely early spring 2004 premiere date.
