CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC will open the doors of its new one-hour reality series "The Restaurant" on Sunday, July 20 at 10:00/9:00c. The six-week series chronicles the opening of a new eatery by Rocco DiSpirito, a New York-based chef recently named one of People Magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive."
Reality gurus Mark Burnett ("Survivor") and Ben Silverman ("Nashville Star") are behind the project, which will also focus on the foibles and flirtations of the waiters, waitresses, bartenders and sous chefs working at the restaurant. It's not clear yet how the series will affect NBC's current Sunday, 10:00/9:00c time slot holder "Crime & Punishment."
Meanwhile, NBC has also made a few other moves to its summer schedule:
-- The summer premiere of the Peacock's "Meet My Folks" has been pushed back one week to Monday, June 16 at 10:00/9:00c. In its place on June 9 NBC will run a "Dateline NBC" special featuring an exclusive interview with the parents of Laci Peterson.
-- Also on June 9, NBC will add a special new edition of "Fame" at 8:00/7:00c as a lead-in to its other new summer series "For Love or Money."
-- And finally, the Peacock has also announced it will expand the premiere of "Last Comic Standing" to two hours on June 10. Jay Mohr hosts the talent search which airs Tuesdays at 9:00/8:00c.
