CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) - Both ABC and the WB were hard at work putting together their fall schedules yesterday as the Alphabet and the Frog are closing on their respective upfront presentations on Tuesday. Here's a rundown of the latest rumblings:
-- "All About the Andersons," the WB's comedy starring Anthony Anderson, is expected to kick off the Frog's new Thursday lineup this fall. It's likely to be joined by "Kid Mayor" (which will likely feature a new title) at 8:30/7:30c.
-- The WB still remains behind "Tarzan & Jane" for the fall with Sundays at 9:00/8:00c a growing possibility. Fellow drama "One Tree Hill" is also gaining momentum for a possible Wednesday berth as is the Frog's "Gilmore Girls'" spin-off however no specific day has been mentioned.
-- On the bubble series "Angel" and "What I Like About You" appear to be inching closer to renewal however the network insists they are still sorting through their pilots for next season.
-- Over at ABC, Teri Polo's comedy pilot "I'm With Her" is well on its way to a series order as are the Kelly Ripa/Faith Ford comedy "Hope & Faith" and Tom Hertz's untitled project featuring Breckin Meyer and Meredith Monroe.
-- On the drama front, ABC continues to lean toward "Karen Sisco" for the Wednesday, 10:00/9:00c slot. "The D.A.," "The Street Lawyer," "The Partners," "Better Days" and "10-8" are also considered top contenders for series orders in what many are describing as a "wide open field" to make ABC's schedule.
-- The storm clouds surrounding "The Practice" and "Dragnet" may be lifted as both series are gaining traction to return next season. Dick Wolf is said to be heavily lobbying to bring the series back for a second season.
