Pilot Update: April 23
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from various wire reports each morning:

AVERAGE JOE (NBC, New!) - The Peacock has committed to six episodes of the reality series from producers Stuart Krasnow ("America's Most Talented Kid") and Andrew Glassman. Kathy Griffin ("Celebrity Mole") will host the project which, like FOX's "Mr. Personality," will test how important looks are in the dating process. The series involves an ex-beauty queen/NFL cheerleader who's lead to believe she'll be on a dating show where she'll get to pick from a group of handsome men, a la "The Bachelorette." The twist comes however when she arrives and discovers the guys are actually "average Joes." NBC Studios is behind the series which producers promise will contain the now standard twists and turns or the current dating/reality genre. Specifics however where not revealed.

FAME (NBC, New!) - Stone Stanley Entertainment and MGM are set to turn the popular film into a reality series. The project will follow award-winning choreographer Debbie Allen's attempts to recruit multi-talented performers (ages 16 and up) from across the country. Jeff Margolis is behind the project which will hold open auditions in major cities across the country in the coming weeks. No details beyond that or a specific episode order were given.

FOR LOVE OR MONEY (NBC, New!) - Nash Entertainment ("Meet My Folks") and 3 Ball Prods. will once again get into the reality game for NBC as the Peacock has ordered six episodes of the project for a summer bow. Described as a reversed version of "Joe Millionaire," the series will feature 15 good-looking women vying for the affections of an eligible bachelor. The twist is that the woman who ends up the bachelor's final pick will snag a $1 million payday. And to make things interesting, the women know about the payoff, but the guy doesn't. Bruce Nash is executive producing the series with J.D. Roth, Todd Nelson and John Foy.

PERFECT PARTNERS (A.K.A. LOVE SHACK) (NBC) - The long-delayed dating series hosted by Will Kirby ("Big Brother 2") has a new title. Originally set to bow last summer, the series will debut this summer instead.

WHO WANTS TO MARRY MY DAD? (NBC) - The Nash Entertainment/NBC Studios project has switched genders as the "Meet My Folks" spin-off will now feature the adult kids of a single dad (instead of a single mom) screening a half-dozen or more potential mates for their unmarried father. NBC will still produce five episodes of the project, which will be produced by Bruce Nash (who created the series) and Scott Satin. No reason for the switch was given.
