CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- Universal Home Video will release the pilot episodes of NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" as well as USA's "Monk" on DVD this June as the company continues to increase its TV-related presence on the format.
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: The Premiere Episode" will be released on June 3 with an MSRP of $19.98. The DVD includes the pilot episode of the "Law & Order" spin-off presented in full screen and Dolby Digital sound.
Also hitting stores on June 3 is "Law & Order: Criminal Intent: The Premiere Episode." Like the "S.V.U." release, the DVD will include the premiere episode of the latest "Law & Order" vehicle in full screen and Dolby Digital sound. The MSRP will be $19.98.
Lastly, on June 24 Universal Home Video will release "Monk: The Premiere Episode." The disc will include the complete two-hour pilot in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital sound. The release will carry an MSRP of $19.98.
Extras are expected on each release however no details were announced.
Universal Home Video released the complete first seasons of "Law & Order" and "Baretta" on DVD in October of last year. The company announced in August 2002 it is planning to bring eight other series to the format in the coming year: "Battlestar Galactica," "Quantum Leap," "Earth: The Final Conflict," "Sliders," "Dragnet," "Magnum P.I.," "The Rockford Files" and "Emergency."
