"48 HOURS" SATURDAY NIGHT DOUBLE FEATURE

"48 Hours: Serial Confessions" - 9:00 PM ET/PT

"48 Hours: Taken Away" - 10:00 PM ET/PT

Saturday, June 23

48 HOURS: "Serial Confessions" - When police found Kala Brown chained inside a shipping container in Woodruff, S.C., they thought they were on the path to solve a missing persons case. What they learned was that they were just getting started on the trail of a suspected serial killer.

48 HOURS goes inside the investigation and the stunning revelations her alleged captor, Todd Kohlhepp, 47, a real estate broker, made to police in an encore of "Serial Confessions" to be broadcast Saturday, June 23 at 9:00 PM, ET/PT on the CBS Television Network. It's a story that has made international headlines and continues to unfold. Correspondents David Begnaud and Peter Van Sant interview investigators, family members, neighbors and friends of the victims.

Police arrested Kohlhepp after they found Brown and she told them she saw Kohlhepp kill her friend, Charlie Carver. When Kohlhepp finally opened up, he told police more than they ever expected. He revealed critical clues in the well-known cold case of four gruesome murders at a South Carolina motorcycle shop in 2003. He then admitted to killing a young couple, Johnny Coxie and Meagan McCraw. Kohlhepp also led police to a location on his property where he had buried Carver, Coxie and McCraw.

The broadcast features the only network TV interview with Regina Tague, Kohlhepp's mother, who died before her son's case played out but told Begnaud that her son was "very misunderstood."

48 HOURS explores the lives of people who were horribly changed when their loved ones disappeared or were murdered, and who had to exist for years without knowing what happened. The team also examines the life of the self-confessed killer, who after a troubled childhood committed his first violent act when he was 15 years old. On the outside, Kohlhepp displayed outward signs of success. His life behind closed doors appears to be quite different.

48 HOURS: "Taken Away" - Jessie Bardwell, 27, was a beloved daughter and friend when she vanished from the Texas home she shared with her boyfriend, Jason Lowe. Fearing the worst, her father traveled from Mississippi to Texas to search for his daughter. Bardwell's body was later found in a remote spot of farmland wrapped in a sheet.

Police suspected murder, but was it?

Maureen Maher and 48 HOURS investigate the disappearance and death of Bardwell and the case against Lowe in an encore of "Taken Away" to be broadcast Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT. Jessie Bardwell was fun-loving and outgoing, say friends and family. She lived in Orange Beach, Ala., where she worked at a local hotspot. Then she fell for Lowe. To the surprise of her family, one day she moved to Texas. It turned out that she was following Lowe, who had landed a job in Dallas. She suddenly disappeared in May 2016.

Her father, Gary Bardwell, said he had a nightmare before his daughter disappeared. "And I felt it - she was not on this earth anymore."

Richardson, Texas investigators had a sense something was wrong in Lowe's home when they arrived to follow up on Bardwell's report that his daughter was missing. There were things out of place and the unmistakable scent of death. Soon after, Lowe was arrested and charged with murder. Lowe later claimed Bardwell's death was an accident. Prosecutors maintain it was murder and Lowe tried to hide her body.

What happened to Jessie Bardwell? 48 HOURS and Maher report the story through interviews with her family and friends, investigators, Lowe's defense team and an exclusive interview with Lowe himself.
