"48 HOURS" BOOKENDS SATURDAY PRIMETIME WITH TWO FAMILY-SET MURDER MYSTERIES STARTING AT 8:00 PM
48 HOURS will bookend Saturday's primetime lineup with two family-set murder mysteries to be broadcast July 19 starting at 8:00 PM, ET/PT on the CBS Television Network. The two updated cases investigated feature fractured families and tales of infidelity, financial secrets and unexpected twists.
At 8:00 PM, 48 HOURS and Maureen Maher return to the murder of Sheri Coleman and her two young sons, who were found dead in their home after Christopher Coleman called a neighbor, a police detective, and asked him to check on his family in an updated rebroadcast of "Writing on the Wall."
Along with the bodies of the victims, the detective found the phrases "You have paid" and "Punished" spray-painted on the walls.
Police would later learn that Christopher Coleman was having an affair with a cocktail waitress, who said they planned on getting married when he left his wife. While Coleman may have wanted to move on from his wife, did he want his family dead?
Meanwhile, at 10:00 PM, 48 HOURS and Richard Schlesinger take another look at the shooting deaths of Tammy Parker and Bryan Capnerhurst in an updated rebroadcast of "A Bad Bet." Tammy was found dead by her husband, Brett Parker, in their Columbia, S.C. home. Parker told police his wife was killed by Capnerhurst, his bookie associate, while trying to rob a safe. Parker said he had no choice but to shoot Capnerhurst in self-defense.
The investigation led police into the world of illegal sports betting and into a family where all was not as perfect as it seemed to outsiders. Parker's attorney said it was a robbery gone bad. The county medical examiner, however, disagreed. Was Brent Parker simply standing his ground, or was it something more?
Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer of 48 HOURS.
