BUSINESS OWNER AND MARKETING GURU JAY DEUTSCH HEADS TO PHOENIX TO
HELP THOSE IN NEED AND DEDICATES HIS JOURNEY TO A FALLEN COLLEAGUE
WHO WAS A VICTIM OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ON ABC'S "SECRET MILLIONAIRE"
"Jay Deutsch, Phoenix, AZ" - Marketing guru and self-made millionaire Jay Deutsch - Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of BDA - leaves his comfortable life with his family in the Pacific Northwest to the Valley of the Sun to volunteer over the course of a week and find people and organizations in need. Deutsch's visit is in honor of a friend and fellow employee who was murdered during a company retreat. On his trip, he encounters a number of grass-roots organizations, including one that hits home and moves him to tears - a local coffee house helping women who have been victims of domestic violence. His other stops include a sports program for children in need and a special pre-school educating Phoenix's youngest residents and their parents. After a week of getting to know these amazing people by hearing their individual stories, Deutsch surprises them with a gift of hundreds of thousands of dollars of his own fortune, on "Secret Millionaire" SUNDAY, AUGUST 26 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Deutsch is the CEO of BDA and co-founded the company with his best friend, Eric Bensussen, in 1984. Since their first order with the Seattle Seahawks, their mission has been to help companies and sports leagues successfully engage consumers and fans through the medium of branded merchandise. In the years since starting BDA, Deutsch has pioneered the concept of a Merchandise Agency, making BDA a global organization dedicated to bringing world-class creativity, brand expertise, supply chain logistics and fanatical commitment to client services all under one roof. In 2004 Deutsch was named Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Based on the hit UK series of the same name, each episode of "Secret Millionaire" follows one of America's most successful business people for one week as they leave behind their lavish lifestyles, sprawling mansions and luxury jets, conceal their true identities, and go to live and volunteer in some of the most impoverished and dangerous neighborhoods in the country. Their mission is to discover deserving individuals who continually sacrifice everything to help those in need, and ultimately encourage others to do the same. Throughout this incredible, life-changing experience, the Secret Millionaires attempt to remain undiscovered, coming face to face with extraordinary people battling the odds every day of their lives. On the final day, in an emotional and dramatic climax, they reveal their true identities.
