ON "PRIMETIME: WHAT WOULD YOU DO?," FRIDAY, AUGUST 5

Will anyone intervene when seemingly underage kids drink alcohol excessively on a public sidewalk, or if an elderly person shoplifts at a grocery store? What if you saw construction workers harassing a young, attractive woman? Some cases seem to cry out for action - while others seem to present a choice. What would YOU do? Using hidden cameras, "Primetime: What Would You Do?" establishes everyday scenarios and then captures people's reactions. Whether people are compelled to act or mind their own business, John Qui�ones reports on their split-second and often surprising decision-making process. "Primetime: What Would You Do?" airs FRIDAY, AUGUST 5 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. (OAD: 1/14/11)

This week's scenarios include:

· Underage Drinking: The Center for Disease Control reports that 11% of all alcohol consumed in the United States is by people under 21 years of age. So what will happen when bystanders are confronted with seemingly underage teens pretending to get wasted in public? "WWYD" starts with white teens then switches to black teens.

· Construction Workers Harassing an Attractive Woman: What would you do if you saw three construction workers harassing an attractive young woman who asks them to stop flirting? What happens if these men are in suits and ties instead of construction gear?

· Elderly Shoplifting: Some statistics say senior citizen non-violent crime is up five-fold. So "WWYD" wondered how people would respond if they were eyewitnesses to an elderly shoplifter helping him or herself to food from the stocked shelves. Even law enforcement were surprised.

· Gold Digger: A young, attractive woman sits at the bar with her fianc� -- a much older man. All she can talk about is shopping, going to expensive restaurants, presents, convincing him to buy another house, etc. But when he goes to the restroom, the woman confides in the bartender, telling him she can't wait for her fianc� to die so she can get his money and finally marry someone her own age. What happens if the couple is an older woman and a younger man?

"Primetime: What Would You Do?" has won awards from the Chicago International Television Festival, and the Avon Foundation's 2006 Voice of Change award for exposing "injustice and wrongdoing against women and bringing the message of domestic violence to the mainstream." The Columbia Journalism Review has called the program "a Candid Camera of Ethics."
