TOM HANKS AND CATHERINE ZETA-JONES STAR IN THE ROMANTIC
DRAMEDY "THE TERMINAL," SATURDAY, JANUARY 19 ON ABC
Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones star in the romantic dramedy "The Terminal," airing in HDTV with 5.1 channel surround sound and Spanish audio as the "ABC Saturday Movie of the Week," SATURDAY, JANUARY 19 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
For Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), the New York airport is about to become a lot more familiar than he ever wanted -- or even imagined. He arrives there from his native Eastern European country to learn that war has broken out at home and, as a result, the U.S. cannot admit him because it doesn't currently recognize his country. His passport is voided, so he can't enter the U.S, but nor can he be deported; Victor learns that he's to remain in the airport until his status can be clarified.
Even though he doesn't speak English well, that doesn't stop Victor from setting up residence in the airport, making friends with some of the people who work there and even finding himself attracted to a flight attendant (Catherine Zeta-Jones). But the security manager who put Viktor in this limbo in the first place is now trying desperately to get him to leave, as it appears Victor's predicament might jeopardize a promotion he is in line for.
The Terminal stars Tom Hanks ("The Da Vinci Code") as Viktor Navorski, Catherina Zeta-Jones ("The Legend of Zorro") as Amelia Warren, Stanley Tucci ("Shall We Dance") as Frank Dixon, Chi McBride (TV's "The Nine,") as Mulroy and Diego Luna ("Frida") as Enrique Cruz.
The film was directed by Steven Spielberg ("Munich") and written by Sacha Gervasi ("The Big Tease") and Jeff Nathanson ("Catch Me If You Can"), with story by Sacha Gervasi and Andrew Niccol ("Lord of War").
