Bob Schieffer Will Anchor the Coverage from Washington, D.C.
CBSNews.com to Provide Live Webcast of the Address and Democratic Response as well as an On-Demand Post-Speech Video Clip Catalog
CBS News will broadcast live President George W. Bush's State of the Union address to the United States Congress on Tuesday, Jan. 31 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. The broadcast, anchored by Bob Schieffer in Washington, D.C., will also include the Democratic response, delivered by Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, as well as reaction from Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.).
CBS News Chief White House Correspondent John Roberts and CBS News National Political Correspondent Gloria Borger will contribute to the broadcast. CBS News Correspondent Lara Logan and New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman will join Schieffer in Washington, D.C. The broadcast will also include reports from CBS News Business Correspondent Anthony Mason and CBS News Correspondent Trish Regan.
The live coverage will be broadcast on CBS Radio News and webcast on CBSNews.com. Following the address, Web users can view a free on-demand clip of the entire address or build their own video playlist of topic-based clips. CBSNews.com will also provide post-speech analysis by CBS News correspondents and commentary from CBS News Opinion-section partners.
CBS News will report on the results of an instant poll conducted with the help of Knowledge Networks, a leading Silicon Valley research company, on how viewers reacted to key points in the President's speech. The live coverage will be broadcast in HDTV where available.
