Airing in HDTV, the Film Stars Two-Time Academy Award Winner Kevin Spacey and Four-Time Academy Award Nominee Jeff Bridges
Are creatures from other planets living among us...? That's the question -- and the mystery -- behind the engrossing sci-fi film drama, "K-PAX," making its network television debut as the "ABC Saturday Movie of the week," JULY 30 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
The story follows Robert Porter, aka "Port" (Kevin Spacey), a resident mental patient who claims to be from an unknown planet he refers to as "K-PAX." Naturally everyone thinks he's lost his marbles, including his psychiatrist, Dr. Mark Powell (Jeff Bridges), who can't understand, much less explain Port's proclamations. And yet, during his time at the hospital, Port somehow miraculously improves the mental state of other patients around him, opening even Dr. Powell's hardened eyes to new and extraordinary possibilities.
Starring in "K-Pax" are Kevin Spacey ("Beyond the Sea," "American Beauty") as Robert Porter, aka Port, and Jeff Bridges ("Seabiscuit," "The Door in the Floor") as Dr. Mark Powell.
"K-Pax" was directed by Iain Softley ("From Tony with Love: The Video Collection," "The Wings of Dove"). Writing credits are given to Gene Brewer for the novel and to Charles Leavitt ("The Jennie Project," "The Mighty") for the screenplay. The film is produced by IMF Internationale Medien und Film GmbH & Co., Intermedia Films, Lawrence Gordon Productions, and Pathe Pictures Ltd. Distributed by Film Four, MCA/Universal Pictures, New Films International, and Universal Pictures.
