SHANGHAI NOON, the 2000 western-comedy set in the 1880's starring Jackie Chan ("Rush Hour") as Chon Wang, an Imperial Guard who teams up with train robber Roy O'Bannon, (Owen Wilson, "The Royal Tenenbaums") to save Princess Pei Pei (Lucy Liu "Chicago"), will be rebroadcast as the "CBS Sunday Movie," Sunday, July 3 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. (Originally broadcast 3/30/03; previously scheduled for an earlier date.)
When Princess Pei Pei (Liu) is kidnapped and taken from China's Forbidden City to Nevada, the Emperor sends members of the Imperial guard after her, including the inept Chon Wang (Chan), who harbors a secret crush on the princess. While on his mission, he becomes entangled with bumbling outlaw Roy O'Bannon (Wilson) and, after ending up in the same jail cell after a bar brawl, the incompetent duo make a pact to find the kidnapped Princess.
However, while Chon's goal is rescuing the princess, Roy is only thinking of the reward of gold that the Emperor is supposed to pay as her ransom. But Roy has competition for the gold as a greedy law man, Van Cleef (Xander Berkeley "U-Boat"), and Pei Pei's captor, Lo Fong (Roger Yuan "Lethal Weapon 4"), equally plot to get the treasure. While Chon hilariously learns the ropes of becoming a cowboy, he must overcome all these and various other obstacles to get to the Princess.
Tom Dey ("Showtime") directed the film, which was written by Miles Milar and Alfred Gough. Jackie Chan, Willie Chan and Solon So are the executive producers, Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Jonathan Glickman are the producers, Jules Daly and Ned Dowd are the co-producers and Bruce Moriarity is the associate producer of the 2000 Touchstone theatrical release.
