NBC MOVIE OF THE WEEK --(8:00PM-10:00PM) --(TV-PG)
"Bowfinger"
(Audio Description)
Emmy winner Steve Martin ("Smothers Brother's Comedy Hour," "Bringing Down the Houze") stars as Bobby Bowfinger, a nearly bankrupt, aspiring movie producer-director who takes one last shot at fame and fortune. Desperate to hit the big time, the hapless dreamer recruits a motley crew of aspiring misfits to help make a movie. With their help, Bowfinger executes an ingenious scheme to trick the biggest name in movies, Kit Ramsey (Four-time Golden Globe nominee Eddie Murphy, "The Nutty Professor," "I Spy"), into starring in his low-budget film. Heather Graham ("Committed"), Emmy winner Christine Baranski ("Cybill," NBC's "Frasier") and Golden Globe winner Robert Downey, Jr. ("Ally McBeal," "Wonder Boys") also star. Emmy winner Frank Oz ("The Muppet Show," "The Stepford Wives") directs the screenplay written by Martin. Oscar and Emmy winner Brian Grazer ("A Beautiful Mind") produces.
