ANN CURRY INTERVIEWS THE McCAUGHEY FAMILY AS THE SEPTUPLETS TURN SEVEN - 'DATELINE NBC,' SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 21
NEW YORK -- November 16, 2004 -- Seven years after their historic birth, NBC's Ann Curry makes her ninth trip to Iowa to visit with the McCaughey septuplets. As the children celebrate their seventh birthday, Nathan -- one of the two diagnosed with cerebral palsy -- is recuperating from neurosurgery. In this "Dateline NBC" exclusive, cameras captured the long and stressful day at the hospital. The four-hour operation marked the beginning of an intensive six-week rehabilitation that could result in Nathan walking unassisted. The two-part report will be broadcast on Sunday, Nov. 21 (7:00 PM, ET) on "Dateline NBC."
This summer, Curry shared an action-packed adventure with the septuplets at a water park, complete with go-karts, water slides, and melting ice-cream cones. At home, the kids are now old enough to help prepare dinner as well as fold and put away their daily laundry. Another big change in the household is that the children are no longer home-schooled. Now first-graders at their local elementary school, they are separated into seven different classrooms and each has distinct plans for the future. In this report, parents Bobbi and Kenny McCaughey revealed how the kids are doing in school and invited "Dateline NBC" to their birthday celebration.
David Corvo is the executive producer of "Dateline NBC."
