Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Holds Off Competition in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/18/18):

CBS (9.326 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) held off the competition on Thursday with its combination of "The Big Bang Theory" (14.690 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1), "Young Sheldon" (13.238 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2), "Mom" (9.259 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4), "Life in Pieces" (6.787 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #8) and "SWAT" (5.991 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

ABC (5.705 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then was the silver draw with the return of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.178 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3), "Scandal" (5.169 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (3.770 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Next up was FOX (3.468 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with week three of "The Four: Battle for Stardom" (3.159 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) plus another "The Four: Battle for Stardom" (3.779 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.180 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up originals from "Superstore" (3.709 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "The Good Place" (3.078 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "Will & Grace" (4.493 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5), "Great News" (2.511 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.7, #15) and "Chicago Fire" (5.645 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

And finally, the winter premieres of "Supernatural" (1.870 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.6, #16) and "Arrow" (1.422 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.5, #17) on The CW (1.646 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) rounded out the night.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

Sharing second place was FOX (3.188 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) with originals from "Hell's Kitchen" (3.911 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5) and "My Kitchen Rules" (2.465 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.944 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) opted for repeats of "Grey's Anatomy" (3.977 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T12) and "Scandal" (2.985 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #14) plus a special "20/20" (4.871 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).
