Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Ellen's Game of Games" Bows with Big Demos for NBC

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/2/18):

NBC (8.177 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) got a big demo boost on Tuesday with the formal premiere of "Ellen's Game of Games" (8.763 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2), a second "Ellen's Game of Games" (8.857 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) and the return of "Chicago Med" (6.910 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

CBS (11.287 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then was the silver draw with originals from "NCIS" (13.924 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3), "Bull" (10.988 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (8.949 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11).

Next up was ABC (3.838 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and its 2018 debuts of "The Middle" (6.284 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3), "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.221 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "Black-ish" (4.025 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) plus a repeat "Modern Family" (3.235 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #12) and a new "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World" (2.632 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.803 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) served up the premiere of "LA to Vegas" (3.750 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) bookended by new episodes from "Lethal Weapon" (4.588 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) and "The Mick" (2.288 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13).

And finally, repeats of "The Flash" (0.818 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15) and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (0.685 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15) on The CW (0.751 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the night.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/3/17):

NBC (7.374 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) took home the demo crown on Tuesday with its mix of "The Wall" (6.768 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), "Chicago Fire" (7.569 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5) and "Chicago PD" (7.785 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2).

Next up was ABC (4.050 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its quartet of "The Middle" (6.555 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), "American Housewife" (5.582 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5), "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.383 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8) and "The Real O'Neals" (3.321 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12) plus a repeat of "David Blaine: Beyond Magic (Repeat)" (2.229 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14).
