Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Dramas Hold Off CBS Comedies in Demos

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/30/17):

ABC (5.784 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) edged out the competition on Thursday with new episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" (7.890 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2), "Scandal" (5.995 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) and "The Catch" (3.467 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

CBS (6.859 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then was a close second with the post-NCAA return of "The Big Bang Theory" (12.603 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1), "The Great Indoors" (7.145 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), "Mom" (7.093 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5) and "Life in Pieces" (5.585 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #6) plus the season premiere of "The Amazing Race" (4.363 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8).

Next up was NBC (4.084 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) with a repeat "Superstore" (2.715 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #12) followed by originals from "Powerless" (1.960 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13), "Chicago Med" (5.850 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) and "The Blacklist: Redemption" (4.064 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.669 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) offered up fresh installments of "MasterChef Junior" (3.523 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7) and "Kicking & Screaming" (1.815 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13).

And finally, new episodes of "Supernatural" (1.733 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13) and "Riverdale" (0.977 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.4, #16) rounded out the night on The CW (1.355 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/3. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/31/16):

FOX (9.061 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) claimed top honors with the penultimate week of "American Idol" (8.844 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #4) and a second hour of "American Idol" (9.278 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3).

CBS (7.464 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then took the number two spot with new episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" (13.966 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1) and "Life in Pieces" (8.071 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #5) followed by the season finale of "Life in Pieces" (6.812 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #7), a new "2 Broke Girls" (5.737 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #8) and the premiere of "Rush Hour" (5.098 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9).
