Monday's Broadcast Ratings: "American Ninja Warrior" Finale Powers NBC Demo Victory

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/14/15):

NBC (6.057 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) clinged to the adults 18-49 crown on Monday with the expanded season finale of "American Ninja Warrior" (6.057 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2).

ABC (10.948 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) then was a close second with the return of "Dancing with the Stars" (13.564 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) and its new special "DanceBattle America" (5.718 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4).

Head-to-head from 8-10 PM, "Dancing" (2.3) edged out "Ninja Warrior" (1.9).

Next up was CBS (5.455 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with repeats of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.123 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3), "The Odd Couple" (5.016 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4), "Scorpion" (4.742 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #6) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (5.554 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.435 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up the season finale of "So You Think You Can Dance" (2.435 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #8).

And finally, originals from "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.473 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #9), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.062 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10) and "Significant Mother" (0.530 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #11) on The CW (1.134 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.5, 0.3 and a 0.2 rating, respectively.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.4/6; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.5/7; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.0/5.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

· Monday's "Tonight" and "Late Night" equaled their best Monday ratings in five weeks in metered-market households (since Aug. 10, 2.6 for "Tonight," 1.1 for "Late Night").

· In 18-49 in the Local People Meters, "Tonight" also matched its five-week Monday high (since Aug. 10, 1.0) and "Late Night" equaled an eight-week Monday high (since July 20, 0.5).


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/15/14):

ABC (11.367 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T1) was the most-watched network on Monday thanks to the return of "Dancing with the Stars" (13.548 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) followed by a repeat of "Castle" (7.007 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).

FOX (5.484 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T1) however split the demo crown with a new "MasterChef" (5.340 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.9, #3) followed by the season finale of "MasterChef" (5.628 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2).

Next up was NBC (5.160 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) with its three-hour special "American Ninja Warrior: USA vs. the World" (5.160 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4).

Meanwhile, CBS (5.841 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) offered up repeats of "The Big Bang Theory" (6.287 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #7), "Mom" (4.867 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "Two and a Half Men" (4.568 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), another "The Big Bang Theory" (5.391 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6) and a new "Under the Dome" (6.967 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #5).

And finally, repeats of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.135 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11), another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.950 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and a new "America's Next Top Model" (0.993 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) on The CW (1.018 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) finished out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted 0.2, 0.3 and 0.6 rating, respectively.
