Bears-Packers 'Sunday Night Football' Leads NBC to Nightlong Wins in All Key Measures

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Nov. 11, 2014 - NBC has won the primetime ratings week of Nov. 3-9 in the key demographic of adults 18-49, marking the network's fifth weeklong win so far this fall. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 2.2 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 7.8 million viewers overall for the week.

NBC also finished the Nov. 3-8 race #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics.

NBC's "Sunday Night Football" ranked #1 among Big 4 primetime programs for the week in adults 18-49, total viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-34, all key adult-male demos, kids 2-11 and teens 12-17, despite a matchup that featured the most lopsided halftime score for a primetime game in NFL history (Packers 42, Bears 0).

Joining "Sunday Night Football" among the week's top 15 primetime shows on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 were Monday's "The Voice" (#4), Monday's "The Blacklist" (tied for #10) and Tuesday's encore "Voice" recap (tied for #13). Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.

For the season, NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and is also #1 or tied for #1 among those networks in adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 25-54.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, virtually matching its year-ago average (9.627 million vs. 9.633 million). This season and last mark the first two times NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point in the season since 2002.

Primetime averages for the week of Nov. 3-9 in adults 18-49 are: NBC, 2.2/7; ABC, 2.1/7; CBS, 1.8/5; Fox, 1.5/5; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 9.3 million; ABC, 8.4 million; NBC, 7.8 million; Fox, 4.4 million; and CW, 1.5 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.9/9; CBS, 2.7/8; ABC, 2.5/8; Fox, 2.3/7; and CW, 0.8/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 12.3 million; NBC, 9.6 million; ABC, 9.0 million; Fox, 6.9 million; and CW, 2.0 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Nov. 3-9:

Monday: NBC ranked #1 Monday night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, taking six of six primetime half-hours among those networks in 18-49 and leading the night by a +55% advantage among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox (with a 3.1 vs. a 2.0 for Fox). NBC led Monday night among the Big 4 in every key demographic.

"The Voice" (3.5/10 in 18-49, 12.1 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, as well as adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-female demos. "The Voice" won its two-hour time period among the Big 4 in every key demographic. Results for this week's "Voice" were in line with comparable telecasts for the spring cycle (3.5/10 in 18-49, 12.0 million viewers overall on April 7) and the year-ago cycle (3.6/9 in 18-49, 11.7 million viewers overall on Nov. 4, 2013).

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Voice" grew by +21% in adults 18-49 (from a 3.46 rating to a 4.17) and 1.8 million viewers overall (from 12.1 million to 13.9 million) going from "live plus same day" rating to L+3. "Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: Through season's first five weeks, Monday's "Voice" grew in L+7 vs. L+SD by +26% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.86 to a 4.87) and 2.5 million viewers overall (12.8 million to 15.3 million).

"The Blacklist" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the 10 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key measure, topping CBS's "NCIS: LA" by a +60% advantage in adults 18-49 (with a 2.4 rating vs. a 1.5) and beating ABC's "CMA" special by a +100% margin (2.4 vs. 1.2).

L+3: "The Blacklist" generated the seventh biggest total-viewer increase in U.S. TV history going from L+SD to L+3, increasing by 5.354 million persons. It was the biggest gain for "The Blacklist" since April 21 (+5.399 million) and made "The Blacklist" that night's #1 telecast in total viewers with 14.7 million viewers, ahead of all scripted competition as well as ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" (14.2 million), which had been #1 in L+SD results. In 18-49, "Blacklist" delivered a season-high +67% increase (from a 2.37 rating to a 3.97) going from L+SD to L+3. "Blacklist" was the #1 drama of the night in L+3 in adults 18-49 and total viewers and in rating point / viewers gain and percentage gain in both 18-49 and total viewers: Also, the prior week's increase of 4.9 million viewers in L+3 was the biggest gain for any program on cable or broadcast for that week.

L+7: So far this season, "Blacklist" is growing by +70% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.82 to a 4.79) and more than 6.2 million viewers (10.5 million to 16.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Tuesday: A "Road to the Live Shows" encore recap episode of "The Voice" (2.3/7 in 18-49, 9.6 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, as well as men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 25-54. In the time period, the encore "Voice" recap ranked #1 in adults 18-49 and most other key demos.

L+3: The encore "Voice" grew by +11% in 18-49 (from a 2.25 to a 2.51) and 683,000 viewers overall (9.6 million to 10.3 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Tuesday's "Voice" is growing by an average +25% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.87 to a 4.83) and more than 2.3 million viewers overall (13.1 million to 15.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Marry Me" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 9-9:31 p.m. ET) retained 87% of the prior week's 1.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 90% in adults 18-34 (0.9 vs. 1.0), despite a lower lead-in this week from a "Voice" recap encore. In the time period, "Marry Me" ranked #2 among the Big 4 nets in adults 18-34 (0.9), as well as women 18-34 and 25-54.

L+3: "Marry Me" grew by +18% in 18-49 (from a 1.25 to a 1.48) and 495,000 viewers overall (4.5 million to 5.0 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Marry Me" is increasing by an average +22% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.06 to a 2.51) and 1.1 million viewers overall (6.6 million to 7.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Upscale: "Marry Me" is the #1 most upscale new series (and #7 most upscale series overall) on the Big 4 networks in "most current" L+3 results through the opening six weeks of the season (144 index among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes).

"About a Boy" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall from 9:31-10 p.m. ET. "About a Boy" was cleared in 92% of the country.

L+3: "About a Boy" grew by +31% in 18-49 (from a 0.94 to a 1.23) and 834,000 viewers overall (3.5 million to 4.4 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "About a Boy" is increasing by an average +28% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.53 to a 1.96) and 1.2 million viewers overall (5.2 million to 6.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"NBC News Decision 2014 Election Special" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in the time period in adults 18-49.

Wednesday: "The Mysteries of Laura" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +8% week to week in adults 18-49 (from a 1.2 to a 2.3) and +5% in total viewers (from 7.5 million to 7.9 million), despite this week's competition from ABC's "CMAs." For a sixth week in a row, "The Mysteries of Laura" remained within 0.3 of a point of its regular-slot premiere rating in 18-49 (1.5 on Sept. 24).

L+3: "The Mysteries of Laura" grew by +24% in 18-49 (from a 1.27 to a 1.58) and 1.5 million viewers overall (7.9 million to. 9.4 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "The Mysteries of Laura" is growing by an average +28% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.52 to a 1.95) and 1.8 million viewers overall (9.2 million to 11.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Law & Order: SVU" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) maintained its 18-49 rating versus the show's prior original two weeks earlier. Versus the same night last year (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers on Nov. 6, 2013), "SVU" is up +7% in 18-49 and up +24% or 1.3 million persons in total viewers.

L+3: "Law & Order: SVU" increased by +61% or a series-high 0.99 of a rating point in 18-49 (from a 1.61 to a 2.60, its highest L+3 rating since Oct. 1) and 2.4 million viewers overall (7.0 million to. 9.4 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Through the season's first five weeks, "SVU" was increasing by an average of +65% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.79 a 2.95) and more than 2.8 million viewers overall (8.0 million to 10.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago P.D." (1.4/4 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of CBS's rival drama "Stalker" in the time period in adults 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.5) and ranked #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC ahead of "Stalker" in adults 18-34 and women 18-34.

L+3: "Chicago P.D." grew by +67% or a season-high 0.91 of a rating point in 18-49 (from a 1.36 to a 2.27,) and more than 2.9 million viewers overall (6.1 million to. 9.1 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Chicago P.D." is growing by an average +65% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.61 to a 2.65) and 3.2 million viewers overall (7.1 million to 10.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday: "The Biggest Loser" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) was up +9% week to week in 18-49 (from a 1.1 to a 1.2), to match its highest rating since Oct. 16.

L+3: The prior week's "Biggest Loser" on Oct. 30 grew by +36% in 18-49 (from a 1.08 to a 1.47) and 838,000 viewers overall (from 4.4 million to 5.3 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "The Biggest Loser" is increasing by an average +35% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.36 to a 1.84) and more than 1.0 million viewers overall (4.8 million to 5.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Bad Judge" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) matched its rating of one week earlier and retained 95% of the prior Thursday's total-viewer results (3.7 million vs. 3.9 million).

L+3: The previous week's "Bad Judge" on Oct. 30 grew by +31% in 18-49 (from a 0.91 to a 1.19) and 825,000 viewers overall (from 3.9 million to 4.7 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Bad Judge" is growing by an average +44% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.19 to a 1.71) and 1.4 million viewers overall (5.0 million to 6.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"A-to-Z" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 89% of its 18-49 lead-in from "Bad Judge," up from the prior week's 78%. Week to week, "A-to-Z" grew by +14% in 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.7) and +10% in total viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.5 million).

L+3: The prior week's "A-to-Z" on Oct. 30 increased by +36% in 18-49 (from a 0.74 to a 1.01 and 538,000 viewers overall (from 2.5 million to 3.0 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "A-to-Z" is increasing by an average +34% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.03 to a 1.38) and 788,000 viewers overall (3.7 million to 4.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

For the first time in their 19 head-to-head airings with originals versus originals, "Parenthood" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) outrated CBS's "Elementary" in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.2), which moved "Parenthood" into second place in the slot among ABC, CBS and NBC. Week to week, "Parenthood" increased by +18% in 18-49 (from a 1.1 to a 1.3) and matched its highest rating since the show's Sept. 25 season premiere (1.4). In total viewers, "Parenthood" hit a three-week high, best since Oct. 16 (4.2 million).

L+3: The previous week's "Parenthood" on Oct. 30 grew by +77% in 18-49 (from a 1.15 to a 2.04) and 2.1 million viewers overall (from 3.9 million to 6.0 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Parenthood" is growing by an average +81% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.29 to a 2.33) and 2.5 million viewers overall (4.2 million to 6.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Upscale: "Parenthood" is the #1 most upscale primetime series on the Big 4 networks in, indexing at a 167 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" L+3 results through the opening six weeks of the season, 100 represents an average concentration of those homes).

Friday: "Dateline NBC" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) won the time period in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. "Dateline" reported NBC's highest adult 18-49 rating in the hour, excluding sports, in seven months (since March 21) and delivered the networks' biggest overall audience in the slot, excluding Olympics, in 10 months (since Jan. 3).

L+3: The prior week's Friday "Dateline NBC" on Oct. 31 grew by +19% in 18-49 (from a 1.32 to a 1.57) and 778,000 viewers overall (7.4 million to 8.1 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +23% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.20 to a 1.48) and 875,000 viewers overall (5.9 million to 6.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Grimm" (1.3/5 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew week to week by +18% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.1 to a 1.3) and +9% in total viewers (from 4.537 million to 4.931 million). "Grimm" ranked as the #1 scripted show in the hour in adults 18-49.

L+3: The prior week's "Grimm" on Oct. 31 increased by +76% in 18-49 (from a 1.13 to a 1.99) and more than 2.2 million viewers overall (4.5 million to 6.8 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Grimm" is growing by an average of +70% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.44 to a 2.45) and 2.8 million viewers overall (5.3 million to 8.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7. "Constantine" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) increased week to week by +11% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.9 to a 1.0) and +3% in total viewers (from 3.057 million to 3.141 million). "Constantine" beat NBC's results in the slot on the same night last year by +11% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.9 to a 1.0) and +6% in total viewers (2.963 million to 3.141 million)

L+3: The previous week's "Constantine" on Oct. 31 grew by +75% in 18-49 (from a 0.92 to a 1.61) and 1.8 million viewers overall (3.1 million vs. 4.8 million) going from L+SD to L+3. Saturday: An encore "Mysteries of Laura" (0.4/1 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) captured the biggest overall audience among four "Laura" encores in the time period so far this fall.

A rebroadcast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) scored the top 18-49 and total-viewer results among three "SVU" encores in the time slot so far this fall.

"SNL Vintage" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET with an encore of a Feb. 17, 1979 telecast hosted by Rick Nelson and featuring musical guest Judy Collins) delivered the biggest "SNL Vintage" overall audience in six weeks, since the show's Sept. 27 debut (3.2 million).

Sunday: NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" (6.5/18 in 18-49, 18.1 million viewers overall from 8:31-11:37 p.m. ET), featuring the Chicago Bears at the Green Bay Packers, led NBC to nightlong wins among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in every key measure - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers --, despite the largest halftime deficit ever for an NFL primetime game.

For the night (from 7:30-11 p.m. ET), NBC led among the Big 4 by an +88% margin over #2 Fox in nightlong 18-49 averages (with a 6.0 rating from 7:30-11 p.m. for NBC vs. a 3.2 from 7-10 for Fox).
