TNT Tops the Ratings Charts Last Week, with Across-the-Board Rankings as Basic Cable's #1 Network in Primetime

TNT topped the ratings charts for last week, with across-the-board rankings as basic cable's #1 network in primetime. Propelled by the strength of its exclusive coverage of the NBA All-Star weekend, TNT took first place among total viewers (2.9 million), adults 18-49 (1.4 million) and adults 25-54 (1.2 million), as well as among adults 18-34 (766,000). TNT also ranked #1 among adults 25-54 in total day.

TNT's exclusive coverage of the 2014 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 16, ranked as cable's #1 sporting event for the week and led the network to win the night across all of cable in primetime (7-11 p.m. ET). The telecast averaged a 4.3 U.S. HH rating and 7.5 million total viewers. TNT's live game telecast peaked with a 4.7 U.S. HH rating and 8.3 million total viewers from 9-9:15 p.m. According to Social Guide, TNT's NBA All-Star Game telecast was the most-discussed TV program of the night across social platforms.

TNT's exclusive presentation of NBA All-Star Saturday Night ranked as one of the Top 5 telecasts in the event's 29-year history. The program scored a 3.1 U.S. HH rating and 5.7 million total viewers, peaking with a 3.7 U.S. HH rating and 6.7 million total viewers from 10:45-11 p.m.

TNT's real-life crime series Cold Justice drew 1.3 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery Friday night, with 571,000 adults 25-54 (+20% vs. the prior week) and 439,000 adults 18-49 (+21% vs. the prior week). For the season-to-date, the show has grown +8% among adults 25-54 and +19% among adults 18-49 compared to season one.

Adult Swim

Across the third week of February 2014, Adult Swim's Total Day Delivery averages ranked #1 among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34, & 18-49 on basic cable. Adult Swim's average Primetime delivery performance grew vs. the same time period last year among men 18-34 (by 13%) and men 18-49 (by 11%).

Monday night's primetime presentation of The Cleveland Show (9:30 p.m.) posted double-digit year-to-year delivery gains vs. the same time period last year among all targeted adults and men - adults 18-34 grew by 60%, adults 18-24 by 72%, adults 18-49 by 35%, men 18-34 by 84%, men 18-24 by 79% and men 18-49 by 62%.

Saturday night's TOONAMI block of anime entertainment boasted Sword Art Online (2 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among men 18-34, growing delivery by double digits across all targeted young adults and men. Similarly, One Piece (1 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among men 18-24.

Over all for the week, Adult Swim programming - including Family Guy, American Dad and Robot Chicken - accounted for 18 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable among adults 18-34, and 20 of the top 50 telecasts among men 18-34, both more than any other network.

TBS

TBS's hit original sitcom Cougar Town garnered 1.7 million viewers in Live+3 viewing for last Tuesday's episode, with 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 504,000 adults 18-34.

TBS's Men at Work posted across-the-board growth last week. The show averaged 1.9 million viewers in Live+3 viewing (+13% vs. the prior week), with 1.1 million adults 18-49 (+6% vs. the prior week) and 530,000 adults 18-34 (+11% vs. the prior week).

TBS's hit competition series King of the Nerds drew 1.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery (+3% vs. the prior week) for Thursday's episode. In key demos, the show drew 467,000 adults 18-34 and grew its delivery of adults 18-49 by +6% to 1.0 million.

TBS's telecasts of The Big Bang Theory accounted for all 15 of basic cable's Top 15 off-net sitcom telecasts for the week among total viewers and adults 18-49.

Cartoon Network

Within the third week of February 2014, Cartoon Network ranked as the #1 television network on basic cable among boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Monday Night (7-9 p.m.). The new episode premiere of original animated series Adventure Time at 7 p.m. scored as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 in its time period among kids 6-11 & 9-14 and all targeted boy demos. Immediately following, a new episode of original animated series Regular Show (7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14.

On Tuesday night, Cartoon Network ranked as the #1 television network on all TV among boys 2-11 & 6-11 (7-9 p.m.), and #1 among boys 9-14 on basic cable (7-9 p.m.). Tuesday night's early prime average delivery grew vs. last year among kids 2-11 & 6-11, by 11% and 15%, respectively, and boys 2-11 & 6-11, by 12% and 17%. A new episode of the original animated series Uncle Grandpa (8 p.m.) scored as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11, ranked #1 in its time period among boys 2-11 & 6-11, and grew delivery by double-digits vs. last year among kids 2-11 (up 30%), kids 6-11 (up 34%), boys 2-11 (up 28%) and boys 6-11 (up 26%). Animated favorite Johnny Test claimed its 7:30 p.m. timeslot among all targeted boys on all television, growing average delivery of kids 6-11 by 8% and boys 6-11 by 15%.

With three winning nights in a row, Cartoon Network also ranked as the #1 television network on Wednesday night among boys 6-11 on all TV and the #1 network among boys 2-11 & 9-14 on basic cable (7-9 p.m.). Average delivery (7-9 p.m.) of targeted demos grew across the board vs. the same time period last year - kids 2-11 by 17%, kids 6-11 by 7% and kids 9-14 by 30%. The new episode premiere of Teen Titans GO! (7:30 p.m.) stood as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 in its timeslot among kids 2-11 & 6-11 and all targeted boys. Similarly, a new episode premiere of Dreamworks Dragons: Defenders of Berk (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11 & 9-14. Both series presentations grew delivery of all kids and boy demos vs. the same time periods last year.

Cartoon Network additionally ranked as the #1 television network among boys 2-11 & 6-11 on all TV, and #1 among boys 9-14 on basic cable on Friday Night (7-9 p.m.). Overall, the early prime line-up grew average deliveries by double-digits vs. last year's time period - kids 2-11 by 31%, kids 6-11 by 23% and kids 9-14 by 13%.

truTV

truTV's hit series Hardcore Pawn wrangled 1.8 million viewers Tuesday night at 10 p.m. and ranked among basic cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with key male demos.

truTV's unscripted comedy hit Impractical Jokers drew 1.2 million viewers Thursday at 10 p.m., with across-the-board growth among key adult and male demos compared to the prior week. In addition, the episode ranked as one of basic cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49.

NBA TV

NBA TV delivered significant audience increases throughout its comprehensive coverage of NBA All-Star 2014 in New Orleans - Thursday, Feb. 13, through Sunday, Feb. 16 - including a +33% boost in primetime viewership over the same telecast windows last year. NBA TV, the youngest sports network with a media age of 35, also delivered a +110% primetime boost among men 18-34 over the previous year. The network's Slam Dunk Marathon, featuring encores of past dunk contests, netted huge audience increases, with a +122% gain in total viewers and a +176% spike among men 18-34 when compared with 2013's coverage. And The Starters, a collective of fan-focused voices with a unique and unconventional take on the game, had its most-viewed show ever for its special live NBA All-Star telecast from New Orleans on Friday, Feb. 14.
