"Parks & Recreation" Jumps 14% Versus Its Prior Original in 18-49 to Earn Its Top Rating Since February 7
NBC spins the numbers for Thursday, March 14.

Thursday Results:

* At 8 p.m. ET, "Community" averaged a 1.0/4 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period opposite CBS's "Big Bang Theory," Fox's "American Idol" and ABC's "Shark Tank" encore.

* From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, "Parks and Recreation" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall) jumped 14 percent versus its prior original in 18-49 to earn its top rating since February 7, despite this being the first "Parks" original to air in three weeks (since two episodes ran on February 21).

* In the time period in men 18-34, "Parks" tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox with CBS's "Two and a Half Men" (1.7 rating each) and out-rated "American Idol" (1.4) in that category.

* From 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall) finished within a tenth of a rating point of its prior first-run telecast despite this being the first "Office" original in four weeks (since an hour-long telecast on February 14). In the time period, "The Office" is #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in men 18-34 and #2 in adults 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54. Note that last season, "The Office" added an average 50 percent to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen reported "live plus seven day" results.

* From 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, "1600 Penn" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall. "1600 Penn" is currently reporting three-week highs in 18-49 and total viewers.

* From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew by 13 percent in total viewers (to 3.9 million persons from 3.5 million), gained 8 percent in adults 25-54 (to a 1.3 rating from a 1.2) and held steady in adults 18-49 (with a 0.9 both half-hours), while drama competition on ABC and CBS declined half-hour to half-hour in those categories.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday night:

* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.5/6; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.7/7; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.0/5 with an encore.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.7/3; "Late Show," 0.7/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4 with an encore.

* From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

* From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/2).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
