"American Idol" Season Premiere Posts Highest-Rated night on Any Network with Entertainment Programming This Season

"AMERICAN IDOL" SEASON PREMIERE POSTS HIGHEST-RATED NIGHT ON ANY NETWORK WITH ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMMING THIS SEASON

"BONES" Delivers Most-Watched Episode of Season and "FRINGE" Series Finale Ends on High Note!

FOX Ranks No. 1 for the Week Among Teens and No. 2 Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34

FOX's week was propelled by the return of AMERICAN IDOL which delivered the highest-rated night of the season with entertainment programming and out-delivered all other unscripted shows of the season. In addition, the first two nights of AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the first two nights of The Voice by +41% in Adults 18-49 and +43% in Total Viewers. BONES posted its highest total viewers of the season and the series finale of FRINGE delivered the series' highest total viewers in over a year. For the week, FOX ranked No. 1 among Teens (tied) and No. 2 among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

For the week, FOX had:

· 2 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-49: AMERICAN IDOL- WED (No. 2) and AMERICAN IDOL- THU (No. 3).

On Monday, FOX ranked No. 3 for the night in Adults 18-49 (tie) and No. 2 in Adults 18-34 (tie).

At 8p BONES (2.1/6) was up +11% from its most recent original telecast in Adults 18-49 (1.9/5 on 12/3/12) and posted its highest Total Viewers (8.0 Mil) so far this season.

A second original of BONES at 9p (2.1/5) matched its 8p lead-in and was also up +11% from its most recent original in early December.

TUESDAY

FOX ranked No. 3 for the night in Adults 18-49 and won the night in Adults 18-34.

RAISING HOPE posted a 1.6/5 among Adults 18-49 at 8p, while BEN AND KATE delivered a 1.1/3 at 830p.

At 9p, NEW GIRL delivered a 1.9/5 in Adults 18-49, and was the highest rated program of the night in Adults 18-34 (tie) and the highest rated comedy of the night in Adults 18-49.

THE MINDY PROJECT posted a 1.5/4 among Adults 18-49 at 930p. THE MINDY PROJECT was the second highest-rated comedy of the night in Adults 18-34, behind only NEW GIRL.

WEDNESDAY

8:00-10:00 AMERICAN IDOL (P): (A18 49: 6.0/16, 17.9 Mil Total Viewers)

FOX won Wednesday night in all key demos and outperformed the combined 3-net competition for the night by +11% in Adults 18-49 and the combined 4-net competition by +4% in Adults 18-34. In addition, FOX outperformed the night's second highest rated network by +140% in Adults 18-49 (6.0/16 vs. ABC's 2.5/7) and +67% in Total Viewers (17.9 vs. 10.7 Mil for CBS.)

The Season 12 premiere of AMERICAN IDOL (6.0/16) posted the highest-rated night of the season on any network with entertainment programming. In fact, AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the second-highest rated night of the season with entertainment programming by +18% in Adults 18-49 (6.0/16 vs. 5.1/13 NBC, 1/13/13, Golden Globes), +14% among Adults 18-34 (4.9/15 vs. 4.3/12 NBC, 1/13/13, Golden Globes) and +3% in Total Viewers (17.9 vs. 17.4 Mil CBS, 9/25/12, season premieres).

AMERICAN IDOL delivered the highest rated unscripted series telecast this season, besting the next highest rated by +22% in Adults 18-49 (6.0/16 vs. 4.9/13, The Voice finale on 12/18/12), +14% among Adults 18-34 (4.9/15 vs. 4.3/12, The Voice on 10/8/12) and +7% in Total Viewers (17.9 vs. 16.7 Mil, Dancing With The Stars finale on 11/27/12).

AMERICAN IDOL out-rated The Voice's season premiere by +43% in Adults 18-49 (6.0/16 vs. 4.2/11 on 9/10/12) and +46% in Total Viewers (17.9 vs. 12.3 Mil).

THURSDAY

8:00-10:00 AMERICAN IDOL (P): (A18 49: 5.6/15, 16.3 Mil Total Viewers)

FOX won the night in all key demos and was even with the combined 3-net competition for the night. In Adults 18-34 FOX outperformed the combined 3-net competition for the night by +14%. FOX outperformed the second-highest rated networks by +155% in Adults 18-49 (5.6/15 vs. 2.2/6 for ABC) and +81% in Total Viewers (16.3 vs. 9.0 Mil for CBS).

FOX posted the highest rated Thursday night on any network with entertainment programming in nearly two years among Adults 18-49 (since American Idol on 3/3/11). FOX now has the second-highest rated night with entertainment programming this season in Adults 18-49, behind only Wednesday's AMERICAN IDOL premiere.

Night two of AMERICAN IDOL (5.6/15) retained 98% of last year's night two audience among Adults 18-49. AMERICAN IDOL gained +20% in Adults 18-34 versus last year's Thursday premiere.

The Thursday premiere of AMERICAN IDOL premiere produced its strongest night two retention in four seasons with 93% in Adults 18-49 (AI 11 = 77%, AI 10 = 80%, AI 9 = 86%, AI 8 = +101%). In Adults 18-34, AMERICAN IDOL retained 100% of its Wednesday premiere.

The first two nights of AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the first two nights of The Voice by +41% in Adults 18-49 (5.8/16 vs. 4.1/12) and +43% in Total Viewers (17.1 vs. 12.0 Mil).
