ABC's "Wipeout" and "NY Med" Surge Week to Week

Building on its lead-in at 9pm by 50% in Adults 18-49 against the Olympics, ABC's replay Wipeout tied its non-sports competition in the hour on CBS (NCIS: LA) and Fox (MasterChef). In fact the show jumped by 29% week to week in Adults 18-49 to deliver ABC's 2nd-highest non-sports rating in the time period since early June - since 6/5/12.
During the 10 o'clock hour opposite the Summer Games, ABC's NY Med surged by double-digit percentages week to week in both Adults 25-54 (+25%) and Adults 18-49 (+17%).

Building on its lead-in at 9:00 p.m. by 50% in Adults 18-49 against the Olympics, ABC's replay "Wipeout" (0.9/2) tied its non-sports competition in the hour on CBS ("NCIS: LA") and Fox ("MasterChef"). In fact the show jumped by 29% week to week in Adults 18-49 to deliver ABC's 2nd-highest non-sports rating in the time period since early June - since 6/5/12.
"NY Med" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
At 10:00 p.m., opposite the night's top-rated hour of the Summer Games, ABC's "NY Med" surged by double-digit percentages week to week in both Adults 25-54 (+25% - 1.0/2 vs. 0.8/2) and Adults 18-49 (+17% - 0.7/2 vs. 0.6/2).
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 44% currently, from 41% at the same point in 2011. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
