ON WEDNESDAY, 'SVU' GENERATES A TWO-MONTH TIME-PERIOD HIGH IN TOTAL VIEWERS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. � September 9, 2009 � NBC has tied for second place in adults 18-49 and finished #2 outright in total viewers and adults 25-54 for the week of August 31-September 6, averaging a 1.4 rating, 4 share in 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC's week was paced by "America's Got Talent," which accounted for two of the week's top three primetime telecasts on the broadcast networks in adults 18-49, and for a third week in a row, the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "Talent" were #1 and #2 for the week in total viewers. "Talent" was also #1 and #3 last week in adults 25-54.

This marks the 11th week in a row that "America's Got Talent" has been the top non-sports primetime telecast on the major networks in total viewers.

Primetime averages for the week of August 31-September 6 in adults 18-49 were ABC (1.5/5), CBS (1.4/5), Fox (1.4/5), NBC (1.4/4), Univision (1.2/4), Telemundo (0.5/2) and CW (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (5.9 million), NBC (5.7 million), ABC (4.7 million), Fox (3.8 million), Univision (3.2 million), Telemundo (1.0 million) and CW (1.0 million).

NBC highlights for the week of August 31-September 6:

* On Monday, the 9 p.m. encore of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" matched NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in 10 weeks.

* On Tuesday, "America's Got Talent" was #1 in its two-hour time period in every key measure � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers. "Talent" was the #1 program on television Tuesday night in total viewers.

* In its final hour on Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" beat the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key ratings categories.

* On Wednesday, the "America's Got Talent" results show delivered the biggest overall audience for any Wednesday telecast on any network so far this summer.

* Wednesday's "Talent" results show dominated its time period in all key measures, topping its closest competitors in the slot by 50 percent in adults 18-49 and 70 percent or more than 5.1 million persons in total viewers.

* Also on Wednesday, an "America's Got Talent" recap show generated NBC's top total-viewer average in the slot in more than six months.

* Additionally on Wednesday, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" attracted the network's biggest overall audience in the time period in more than two months.

* NBC ranked #1 in primetime Wednesday night, topping all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

* On Thursday, "The Office" ranked #2 in its time period among the major networks in adults 18-49 and #1 among adults 18-34.

* On Friday, a two-hour "Dateline NBC" reported the top 18-49 and total-viewer results of the night, marking the 10th time in 12 weeks "Dateline" has been the #1 non-sports telecast on a Friday night in 18-49.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of August 31-September 6:

On Monday, August 31 at 8 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Law & Order: CI" increased its 18-49 rating by 9 percent (to a 1.2 from a 1.1) and its women 18-49 rating by 15 percent (1.5 vs. 1.3).

Monday at 9 p.m. ET, another telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) matched NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in 10 weeks (since June 22). Week to week, "Law & Order: CI" was up in the time period by 30 percent in 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.0) and 32 percent or 1.3 million persons in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 4.2 million).

Monday at 10 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall) finished within 1 share of the time-period lead in adults 18-49. Week to week, "Dateline NBC" was up in the time slot by 20 percent in 18-49 rating (1.8 vs. 1.5). From half-hour to half-hour, last week's Monday "Dateline" grew by 25 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.0 from a 1.6) and 24 percent in adults 25-54 (2.6 vs. 2.1). In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, "Dateline NBC" moved into first place among the major networks in adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and other key demos.

On Tuesday, September 1 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "America's Got Talent" averaged a 1.4/5 in 18-49 and 6.0 million viewers overall. The "Talent" encore ranked #2 in the time period among the major networks in adults 18-34 and women 18-34.

Tuesday from 9-11 p.m. ET, a two-hour edition of "America's Got Talent" (3.2/9 in adults 18-49, 12.8 million viewers overall) was the #1 telecast of the night in total viewers. "America's Got Talent" scored its top 18-49 and total-viewer results in three weeks. For its two-hour time period, "Talent" is #1 in every key ratings category � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.

For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., "America's Got Talent" dominated every key category, beating the combined ABC-CBS rating in adults 18-34, adults 18-49, adults 25-54, men 18-34, all key adult-female demos and total viewers.

NBC tied for #1 for the night in 18-49 and was #1 outright total viewers. It was NBC's seventh consecutive Tuesday win in total viewers.

On Wednesday, September 2 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an "America's Got Talent" recap episode (1.5/5 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's biggest overall audience in the slot since February 25. The "Talent" recap finished #2 among the major networks in the hour in total viewers. From its first half-hour to its second, the "America's Got Talent" recap increased its 18-49 rating by 23 percent (to a 1.6 from a 1.3) and its overall audience by 20 percent or 1.3 million persons (7.6 million vs. 6.3 million).

Wednesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, the "America's Got Talent" results show (2.7/8 in 18-49, 12.4 million viewers overall) delivered the biggest overall audience for any Wednesday telecast on any network so far this summer. The September 2 "America's Got Talent" generated the #1 results of the night in total viewers and tied for the #1 rating of the night in 18-49 (with ABC's "Wipeout"). "America's Got Talent" won the time period by a decisive 50 percent margin in adults 18-49 (2.7 vs. 1.8 for Fox's "Glee" encore) and by 70 percent or more than 5.1 million persons in total viewers (12.4 million vs. 7.3 million for CBS's second-place "Criminal Minds" encore). Versus its lead-in from the prior hour, "America's Got Talent" was up 80 percent in 18-49 rating and 78 percent or 5.4 million persons in total viewers.

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) attracted NBC's biggest overall audience in the hour since June 24. "Law & Order: SVU" was #2 in the time period in 18-49 and other key demographics. "Law & Order: SVU" out-rated CBS's CSI: NY encore for the hour in all key demographics -- adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

NBC ranked #1 in primetime Wednesday in total viewers and other key measures. It's NBC's fourth consecutive Wednesday win in total viewers.

On Thursday, September 3 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "30 Rock" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers overall.

Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Parks and Recreation" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall) retained 100 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "30 Rock."

Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period among the major networks in adults 18-49 and #1 among adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49.

On Thursday from 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "30 Rock" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall) retained 91 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "The Office." In the time period, "30 Rock" tied for #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49.

Thursday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) was #2 or tied for #2 among the major networks for the hour in all key ratings categories.

On Friday, September 4 from 8-9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Southland" averaged a 0.6/3 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall.

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" reported a 1.4/5 in 18-49 and 7.1 million viewers overall, making it the #1 telecast of the night in both categories. "Dateline" delivered the highest results for any Friday non-sports telecast on any major network in more than two months (since June 26) in total viewers. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 45 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6/5 from a 1.1/4) and by 37 percent or 2.1 million persons in total viewers (to 7.9 million from 5.8 million).

This marks the 10th Friday in 12 weeks that "Dateline NBC" has scored the top non-sports rating for any broadcast network in 18-49 and the sixth week in a row that it was the top non-sports program on Friday night in total viewers.

NBC's Friday lineup finished #1 for the night in total viewers.

On Saturday, September 5 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, CI increased its 18-49 rating by 40 percent (to a 0.7 from a 0.5) and its overall viewership by 18 percent (to 3.5 million from 3.0 million).

Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) captured NBC's best 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period since the Macy's fireworks special on July 4. "Law & Order" built on its lead-in by 50 percent in 18-49 and 41 percent in total viewers.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall.

On Sunday September 6, from 7-8:30 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its third, "Dateline" increased its 18-49 rating by 57 percent (to a 1.1 from a 0.7) and its overall viewership by 39 percent or 1.5 million persons (to 5.5 million from 4.0 million).

Sunday from 8:30-11 p.m. ET, the 2004 feature film "Friday Night Lights" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fifth, "Friday Night Lights" increased its 18-49 rating by 33 percent (to a 0.8 from a 0.6).
