WEEK No. 45:

During the week of July 28, 2008, ABC saw week-to-week increases in both Total Viewers (4.4 million vs. 4.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.5/5 vs. 1.4/5).

For the 7th time in 10 weeks of the summer, ABC was up over the same week last summer in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 (4.2 million and 1.4/5 in Adults 18-49 on the w/o 7/30/07). In fact, ABC was the only network to grow its Adult 18-49 audience year to year.

Rankings: ABC claimed 3 of the week's Top 15 TV shows in Adults 18-49: "Wipeout" No. 2, "Primetime: The Last Lecture: A Celebration of Life" No. 9 and "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" No. 11. ABC News aired TV's Top 2 newsmagazines of the week in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 with Tuesday's "Primetime: The Last Lecture: A Celebration of Life" and Wednesday's "Primetime: Crime," respectively. In fact, it is the 4th straight week that ABC News has aired the Top 2 newsmagazines of the week in Adults 18-49.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped from 18% at the same point in 2006-07, up to 26% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

Monday

"High School Musical: Get in the Picture-MON" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

"High School Musical: Get in the Picture" was up week to week in both Total Viewers (3.5 million vs. 3.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.9/3).

"Wanna Bet" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Similarly to its lead-in, ABC's "Wanna Bet" posted increases over its week-ago series premiere in both Total Viewers (3.4 million vs. 3.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.2/3 vs. 1.1/3).

ABC outperformed its Tuesday performance on the same night last year (7/31/07) by 1.6 million viewers (7.7 million vs. 6.1 million) and by 27% in Adults 18-49 (2.8/8 vs. 2.2/7).

"Wipeout" stood as Tuesday's No. 1 TV program for the second week in a row among Adults 18-34 (2.7/10), Men 18-34 (2.5/9) and Men 18-49 (3.2/11). "Wipeout" finished as the No. 2 television show of the evening in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, one-tenth of a rating point behind NBC's "America's Got Talent" in the key sales demo and topping the NBC show in audience share (3.6/11 vs. 3.7/10).

Saturday

"Wipeout" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

A special repeat telecast of ABC's "Wipeout" won the hour in Adults 18-34 (1.2/5) and Adults 18-49 (1.5/6), standing as Saturday's No. 1 program in Adults 18-34.
