ABC's "Pushing Daisies" Wins its Third Consecutive Week Across Key Adults, Outpacing its Closest Competition in the 8 O'clock Hour by 16% in Adults 18-49

Wednesday's No. 1 TV Show in Adults 18-49 for the Fourth Week Running, ABC's "Private Practice" Dominates its NBC and CBS Drama Competition at 9pm

ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" Continues to Beat Out NBC's Competing Freshman Drama, "Life," in the 10 O'clock Hour in Viewers and Young Adults

Wednesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC led its fourth straight Wednesday night among young adults, beating out its closest competition by 6% in Adults 18-49 (3.7/10 vs. 3.5/9 - CBS) and by 42% in Adults 18-34 (3.4/10 vs. 2.4/7 3-way tie between CBS, NBC and Fox).

"Pushing Daisies" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

For the third straight week (on each of its telecasts), ABC's "Pushing Daisies" won its 8 o'clock time period across each of the adult demographics: Adults 18-34 (3.2/10), Adults 18-49 (3.6/10) and Adults 25-54 (4.0/10). In the key Adult 18-49 sales demo, "Daisies" dominated its nearest competition in the hour by 16% (NBC = 3.1/9). For the second straight week, "Daisies" stood as No. 2 TV show on Wednesday among Adults 18-34, behind only ABC's "Private Practice."

Winning its time period for the first time in Men 18-34, "Pushing Daisies" jumped 21% over the prior week among hard-to-reach young men (2.3/8 vs. 1.9/7). The new ABC series also delivered the No. 1 position in the hour with Men 18-49 (2.6/8).

"Private Practice" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Wednesday's No. 1 TV program in Adults 18-49 for the fourth week running, ABC's "Private Practice" was the definitive time period leader. In the hour, ABC's "Private Practice" (4.3/11) outdelivered CBS' second-place "Criminal Minds" by 10% (3.9/10), NBC's third-place and fading "Bionic Woman" by 30% (3.3/8) and Fox's fourth-place "Kitchen Nightmares" by 34% (3.2/8). In addition to standing as the highest-rated show of the night in Adults 18-49, "Private Practice" was also Wednesday's No. 1 TV program with Adults 18-34 (4.2/12) and across all key women demographics: W18-34 (6.1/16), W18-49 (6.2/15) and W25-54 (6.9/15).

"Dirty Sexy Money" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" defeated its freshman drama competition during the 10 o'clock hour, beating NBC's "Life" by 1.1 million viewers (8.8 million vs. 7.7 million) and by 11% in Adults 18-49 (3.1/9vs. 2.8/8). The new ABC series ranked No. 1 in the hour among Adults 18-34 (2.7/8-tie) and Women 18-34 (3.9/11).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from 9% at this time last year up to 20% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
