CHANGELING, THE (Apple TV+) - Samuel T. Herring has been cast in the LaKeith Stanfield-led drama series as William Wheeler, "a man who befriends Stanfield's Apollo in a quest to win back his wife and children." (Deadline.com)
DUNCANVILLE (FOX) - The network has pulled the plug of the animated comedy after three seasons. It's understood the six remaining completed episodes will be made available on 20th Television-sibling Hulu later this year. (Deadline.com)
FIELD OF DREAMS (Peacock) - The streamer has nixed its proposed TV take on the 1989 movie from Michael Schur. No reason for the decision was given. Producer Universal Television is currently shopping the project to other outlets. (Variety.com)
GIRLS ON THE BUS, THE (HBO Max) - Natasha Behnam will star opposite Melissa Benoist in the political drama series as Lola Gabriel, "a sharp-witted and passionately political TikTok star and well-known Gen Z influencer." (Deadline.com)
INVITATION TO A BONFIRE (AMC) - Freya Mavor, Pilou Asbæk and Ngozi Anyanwu are the first to be cast in the six-episode series based on the novel by Adrienne Celt. Mavor's Zoya Andropova "is an orphaned refugee and the consummate outsider at the posh all-girls school where she works. She is a Soviet among Americans, a peasant among silver spooners, an intellectual among the incurious. When the novelist Leo Orlov joins the faculty, Zoya develops a dangerous obsession with him - and his magnetic wife." Asbæk's Leo is "a literary genius currently in turmoil. When he arrives to teach at this upper-crust New Jersey girls school, he bristles with resentment - much of it directed towards his wife. But then he meets Zoya, a young groundskeeper at the school, and the trajectory of his writing - and his life - are forever changed." And Anyanwu plays Hilda, "an ambitious, independent woman who refuses to betray her heart - no matter the cost. After her affluent family refused to accept her for who she is, she left them behind, choosing to start anew in the kitchen at the school." (Deadline.com)
MAGNUM P.I. (CBS) - NBC has revived the recently canceled drama with an order for 20 new episodes to be split into two seasons. The news comes as options on the cast (Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang and Amy Hill) were set to expire today. Universal Television and CBS Studios will continue to co-produce the series. (Deadline.com)
MOON REPRESENTS MY HEART, THE (Netflix, New!) - Pim Wangtechawat's forthcoming debut novel has been optioned by the streamer and 21 Laps Entertainment to adapt as a limited series. Gemma Chan is attached to star in the project, about "a British-Chinese family with the secret ability to time travel. After the parents vanish, their son and daughter search for them across time while coming of age as adults." Chan will also executive produce alongside the company's Shawn Levy and Josh Barry. (THR.com)
PERRY MASON (HBO) - Wallace Langham will recur on the show's sophomore run as Melville Phipps, "a Los Angeles native and attorney for a very wealthy oil baroness. He works well under women and acts as a caretaker when necessary." (Deadline.com)
POKER FACE (Peacock) - S. Epatha Merkerson and Judith Light are the latest faces bound for the mystery drama series. No details were given about their roles. (Deadline.com)
SAFEHAVEN (Crackle) - Georgie Murphy, Gino Anania and Bob Frazer are set to star in the supernatural thriller series, about "an aspiring comic book artist whose drawings begin to come to life and threaten those around her," with production underway in Winnipeg, Canada. James Seale, David Ozer, Stan Spry, Eric Woods, Anthony Fankhauser, Peter Odiorne, Matt Harton, Larry Swets, Hassan Baqar, Kyle Cerminara, Mark Roberson, David Fannon, Seth Needle, David Nagelberg, Brad Turner and Jessica Petelle are the executive producers for Strong Studios, The Cartel, Unbounded Media, 451 Media, Ballantyne Strong, High Park Entertainment and Screen Media. Kaare Andrews is set to direct. It was previously reported in October 2020 that Stephen Moyer, Belle Shouse and Antonio Cipriano were set as the leads with production eyed for a January 2021 start in Louisiana. (Variety.com)
TOM SWIFT (The CW) - The network has canceled its "Nancy Drew" spin-off series after five episodes. Producer CBS Studios is "trying to extend the options on the cast, which expire today, and plans to shop the series elsewhere." (Deadline.com)
WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (FX) - Anoop Desai is set to appear in six of the new season's 10 episodes as "an acquaintance of Nandor's from his ancestral homeland." (Deadline.com)
