AMERICAN AUTO (NBC) - X Mayo has booked a role on the single-camera comedy pilot as Dori, "a sweet, wholesome assistant to the CEO (Ana Gasteyer)." (Deadline.com)
BIG SKY, THE (ABC) - Jesse James Keitel and Natalie Alyn Lind are the latest additions to the David E. Kelley drama series. The former will play Jerrie: "A gender-fluid artist with big dreams, a small town is not the best place for a fish out of water like Jerrie, who is looking for acceptance. When truck driver Ronald meets Jerrie, the intimacy between them is palpable, until it takes an unexpected turn." And Lind is Danielle Sullivan: "Impulsive, confrontational and hot-headed, Danielle is kidnapped during a trip to visit her boyfriend in Montana along with her younger sister, Gracie." (Deadline.com)
CALL YOUR DAUGHTER HOME (Netflix, New!) - Deborah Spera is developing a small screen take on her novel "set in 1924 South Carolina and follows three women who have come to a crossroads. The three women seemingly have nothing in common, yet as they unite to stand up to injustices that have long plagued the small town, they find strength in the bond that ties women together. Told in the voices of Gertrude, Retta, and Annie, Call Your Daughter Home is a story about the power of family, community, and ferocity of motherhood." She'll presumably write and executive produce via her One-Two Punch Productions banner. (Deadline.com)
CLARICE (CBS) - Lucca De Oliveira and Devyn A. Tyler have signed onto the Rebecca Breeds-led drama pilot, as has director Maja Vrvilo. De Oliveira will play Tomas Esquivel, "who attended Dartmouth on an ROTC scholarship and became a counter-sniper during Operation Desert Storm. He is initially suspicious of Clarice, and her singular background in the Bureau. Esquivel has gone through his own kind of hazing, and is torn between his love of service, and his belief that the FBI needs to shake off its "Old School" mentality." And Tyler is Ardelia Mapp, "Clarice's closest friend and her roommate at the FBI Academy. Ardelia is brilliant and has developed strong coping mechanisms as a black woman working in the white male universe of the FBI. Ardelia has landed at the Department of Justice where she is an Asst. U.S. Attorney. She is vocal and open about the discrimination that's rampant in the Bureau and in the D.O.J." (Deadline.com)
CLEANING LADY, THE (FOX) - Shannyn Sossamon, who had been cast in the title role, has been released following the project's table read. Said character is being tweaked as producers search for a replacement. (Deadline.com)
CRAZY FOR YOU (NBC) - Shelley Hennig, Alice Lee, Tiana Okoye and Nick Cafero are the first to be cast in the single-camera comedy pilot. Hennig's Daisy is "the sweet and charming assistant at a publishing company"; with Lee as Emma, "organized and ambitious, she works with Daisy"; Okoye as Tasha, "one of Daisy's best friends"; and Cafero as Ethan, "Emma's boyfriend and a genuinely nice guy." In addition, Andrew Singer, Hilary Marx and Jason Carden will join Lorne Michaels, Mike Shoemaker and Seth Meyers as executive producers. Creator Rachele Lynn is a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
HARLEM'S KITCHEN (ABC) - Clare-Hope Ashitey, Adrianna Mitchell and Pepi Sonuga are the latest bound for the Delroy Lindo/Sheryl Lee Ralph-led drama pilot. They'll play their three children: Zadie, "the eldest daughter of Ellis and CC, [who] never wants to disappoint her parents"; Eden, "the middle child with one simple dream: to be the first African American chef to earn a Michelin star"; and Nina, "the youngest and most mercurial Rice daughter." (Deadline.com)
JURY DUTY (CBS) - Meaghan Rath, Sadie Calvano and Alanna Ubach have all been cast in the hybrid comedy pilot. Rath plays Jen: "Sarcastic, adorably neurotic and a little controlling, Jen is a successful book editor who is high maintenance, but thinks she's low maintenance. She feels like the last single girl in the world because all of her friends are married with kids." Calvano then is Linzee: "Gorgeous and a bit naïve, Linzee loves animals and is a vegetarian because "bunnies!" She's also very optimistic, easily excited, and too sweet to realize she's the most beautiful girl in the world." And Ubach is Judge Wallace: "Judge Wallace wanted to be an actress and now the courtroom is her stage, where she's wildly unprofessional and shares way too much personal information. Her Honor likes to "connect" with her jurors and doesn't care how long this trial takes." (Deadline.com)
MARVEL'S THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER (Disney+) - Production on the series has been halted in Prague following the local government's decision to place restrictions on event and travel due to the coronavirus. It's not clear if the planned one-week shoot will be rescheduled for elsewhere. (Deadline.com)
MARVEL'S WHAT IF...? (Disney+) - Québec City-based animation studio Squeeze has been tapped to create five of the 10 episodes of the upcoming project, due in the summer of 2021. (Variety.com)
MR. CORMAN (Apple TV+) - Arturo Castro has been cast in the Joseph Gordon-Levitt-led comedy series, "described as a deep cut into the days and nights of San Fernando Valley public schoolteacher Josh Corman (Gordon-Levitt)." Castro will play as Victor, "Josh's roommate and friend." The A24-based project will also be executive produced by Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Eric Kaplan, Ravi Nandan, Nathan Reinhart and Inman Young with Meg A. Schave as a producer. (Variety.com)
NEXT (FOX) - A member of the show's production team has tested positive for the coronavirus. "We have been notified by the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) that a crew member on neXt, which concluded production in Chicago last week, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is receiving treatment," a Disney Television Studios spokesperson said. "We are working closely with the CDPH to identify and contact all individuals who came in direct contact with the crew member, and are taking precautions to protect all who work on our productions." (Deadline.com)
PROSPECT (ABC) - Diana Maria Riva and Dale Dickey are bound for the Hunter King/David Alan Grier-led single-camera comedy pilot. Riva will play Delfina, "street smart, a tough beauty, pragmatic and nonchalant, Delfina works in the town's saloon"; with Dickey as Winnie Mae-Winnie, "a workhorse, salt-of-the-earth pioneer woman." (Deadline.com)
REBEL (ABC) - Andy Garcia has closed a deal to star opposite Katey Sagal in the drama pilot as Julian Cruz, "the lawyer for whom Rebel consults, though sometimes it seems like it's the other way around. Cruz is a powerful attorney - sexy, smart, down-to-earth and strong in all the best ways. He was widowed two years ago and still is reeling from the loss. Frequently irritated by his most famous employee, Cruz is weary of being guilt-tripped by Rebel into taking on another demanding case." Additionally, Tara Nicole Weyr has been tapped to direct. (Deadline.com)
REPUBLIC OF SARAH, THE (The CW) - Landry Bender, Ian Duff and Forrest Goodluck have all been cast in the Stella Baker/Luke Mitchell-led drama pilot. Bender will play Bella (fka Phoebe), "the daughter of Greylock's mayor and one of Sarah's students"; with Duff as Grover, "a damaged knockout who works at the local diner"; and Goodluck as Tyler, "a thoughtful, introspective kid who wears his heart on his sleeve, but he also can be incredibly tough thanks to a difficult childhood growing up on a Native American reservation." (Deadline.com)
STATION ELEVEN (HBO Max) - Nabhaan Rizwan and Philippine Velge have joined the cast of the post-apocalyptic limited series as Frank Chaudhary, "a successful war correspondent, who is struggling with his own demons when the flu strikes"; and Alexandra, "a member of the Traveling Symphony too young to remember what the world was like before the Georgia Flu," respectively. (Deadline.com)
VALLEY TRASH (ABC) - Lulu Wilson has been cast in the Jason Lee-led comedy pilot, which has also added Chris Koch as director. Wilson's Abby Harman is "a smart, confident tomboy who doesn't suffer fools and finds herself in a bit of a predicament when she starts getting bullied by a popular mean girl at her fancy new school. She tries her best to lead with empathy, but ultimately her temper wins out and the situation comes to blows. Lee plays her dad, a hard-working, low-rent lawyer." (Deadline.com)
