ANIMAL KINGDOM (TNT) - Joseph Morgan has been cast as Colin's (Grant Harvey) unstable brother, Jed, in the current season. (TVLine.com)
A.P. BIO (NBC) - Co-star Glenn Howerton has confirmed a third season has been ordered of the comedy series for NBCUniversal's upcoming streaming service. NBC pulled the plug on the half-hour back in May. (@GlennHowerton)
ARROW (The CW) - Ben Lewis's William "Will" Clayton is the latest to return as a regular for the show's final season. (Deadline.com)
ASUNDA (HBO) - Prentice Penny has signed onto the small screen take on Sebastian A. Jones's Stranger Comics series about "a character known as The Stranger as he returns to a town called Oasis to kill seven people in seven days. His mission is challenged, however, by Niobe Ayutami, a young girl who will figure prominently in the Asunda mythos." He and Jones will co-write the script and executive produce alongside Mimi DiTrani and David Levine. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO P.D. (NBC) - Paul Adelstein has scored a recurring role on the veteran drama as Interim Superintendent Jason Crawford, beginning with its season premiere. (Deadline.com)
DYNASTY (The CW) - Michael Michele's Dominique Deveraux has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming third season. (TVLine.com)
HEAVENS, THE (Amazon, New!) - Author Lev Grossman is set to team with Groundswell Productions' Michael London and AGBO's Anthony and Joe Russo for a potential drama about Miranda, "a troubled but gifted young woman who finds a powerful weapon left behind by a long-vanished empire. That discovery will launch Miranda on an epic adventure with a sprawling cast of characters, from a lethal super-agent to an alcoholic genius prince, as she struggles to unite a galaxy at war against a vast, ancient antagonist." Lindsay Dunn and Mike Larocca will also executive produce the project, which has a penalty attached. (Deadline.com)
INSIDE BORUSSIA DORTMUND (Amazon, New!) - Aljoscha Pause has scored a four-episode order from the streaming service for a documentary series which explores the 2018/19 season of the German sports club. Episodes will be released weekly beginning August 16. No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) - Ian McShane will drop by the show's season premiere as "a charming and high-profile media mogul who takes on Olivia Benson and the SVU squad after being accused of sexual assault." (TVLine.com)
MAKING THE CUT (Amazon) - Chiara Ferragni is the latest to be tapped as judge on Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn's forthcoming competition series. (@PrimeVideo)
RESIDENT, THE (FOX) - Morris Chestnut has joined the cast of the medical drama as Barrett Cain, "an intimidating neurosurgeon hired by Red Rock Medical to turn around Chastain's finances. Cain believes himself to be a superman physician, capable of curing crippling diseases. He's charming when he wants to be but utterly ruthless in his quest for money and power. His ability to exact swift revenge on any who oppose him will put the good doctors at Chastain in jeopardy." (Deadline.com)
SELAH AND THE SPADES (Amazon, New!) - The streaming service is developing a small screen take on its recently acquired Tayarisha Poe film, "set in the prestigious Haldwell Boarding School. Here, Selah is in charge of one of the most powerful student factions, the Spades, the group responsible for selling much of the drugs and alcohol on campus. She's also a star student on campus, and with graduation approaching, she is also interested in finding someone to replace her atop the Spades." Poe is spearheading the TV take with Lauren McBride, who produced the film, also attached. (Variety.com)
SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT (Netflix) - The company has passed on a third season of its film-turned-TV series. "Spike Lee is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and we're thrilled he brought the series She's Gotta Have It (1986, based on his first feature film) to Netflix," said Ted Sarandos. "While this is our last season, we're very proud that it will be on our service for years to come, and excited to be working with Spike on his upcoming Netflix film Da 5 Bloods." Producers however plan to shop the project elsewhere. (Deadline.com)
SIMPSONS, THE (FOX) - Jason Momoa will appear as himself in an upcoming episode, who appears at the San Castellaneta festival. (EW.com)
