(Silver Spring, MD, May 9, 2017) - American Heroes Channel (AHC) announced today a new multi-platform partnership with People, America's most popular weekly magazine brand, to present the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD. AHC and People kicked off the nationwide search for the winner of the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD, given to the ultimate everyday hero who goes above and beyond to make a difference in the world. Created by AHC and the Crowther Charitable Trust in 2015, the RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD honors the selfless actions of Welles Remy Crowther, also known as "The Man in the Red Bandanna," who, according to survivor accounts, saved as many as 12 people following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

As the official media partner for 2017, People will feature new and exclusive Red Bandanna content through a series of hero profiles, editorial features and digital videos leading up to the awards ceremony at the Red Bandanna Game to be held this fall at Welles's alma mater, Boston College. Nominations for this year's winner are being accepted now through July 4, 2017, at AHCtv.com/redbandanna.

The winner of the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD will receive a $10,000 donation to the charity of his or her choice, as well as a trip for two to attend the annual primetime Red Bandanna Game at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, on October 27, 2017, versus Florida State. In addition, this year's winner will be featured in People, as well as in an all-new, 60-minute Red Bandanna special by Time Inc. Productions premiering this fall on AHC.
