BUDDING PROSPECTS (Amazon) - Adam Rose has booked a lead role on the 1980s set comedy pilot, in which "three hapless city boys - Felix (Rose), Phil (Joel David Moore) and Gesh (Will Sasso) - move to the country to grow marijuana." Rose's Felix is further detailed as "a lovelorn romantic who is sensitive, brooding, vulnerable and ruefully self-aware but also likable and compelling." (Deadline.com)
HIGH WIRE (FOX, New!) - Kathleen "Bird" York has set up a potential drama at the network about Nicole Mora, "a 26-year-old fledgling aerialist who, after suffering the loss of both of her parents, decides to run off to join an innovative startup cirque. Working her way up from tent crew to trapeze artist (to eventually running an entire cirque franchise), Nicole will not only have to earn her place in the eccentric, tightknit family of "cirkies," she'll have to go head to head with a force far more formidable than gravity." Cary Brokaw also serves as an executive producer for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
MASTERS OF SEX (Showtime) - The pay channel has decided against ordering a fifth season of the series. In a statement to the press, Showtime said: "'Masters of Sex' was a beautifully written and acted exploration of America's changing sexual mores. We are incredibly proud to have shared the story of Masters and Johnson for four critically-acclaimed seasons. The series will remain available across our platforms where new viewers can discover it for years to come." (Deadline.com)
SEVEN SECONDS (Netflix) - Michael Mosley and Patrick Murney are both bound for the series. Mosley will play Joe "Fish" Rinaldi, "a seasoned New Jersey detective assigned to work with prosecutor KJ Harper (still to be cast)." Murney will portray Gary Wilcox, "a cop working with Diangelo (David Lyons), Osorio (Raul Castillo) and newcomer Peter Jablonski (Beau Knapp) on the Narcotics squad in Jersey City." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED LENA WAITHE PROJECT (Showtime) - Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) has signed on to helm and executive produce a redeveloped take on the drama pilot, a relevant, timely and distinctive coming-of-age story of a young African American male in which just growing up can be a matter of life and death. Common, Elwood Reid and Aaron Kaplan also serve as executive producers on the Fox 21 Television Studios project, which is on track for a 10-episode series order and will be recast. Clark Johnson directed the original pilot. (Deadline.com)
