THE AMAZING DANNY/JEFF & SOME ALIENS (Comedy Central, New!) - Sean Donnelly and Alessandro Minoli are developing a pair of animated/live-action comedy projects at the cable channel. First up is "Jeff & Some Aliens," one of the shorts featured during the freshman run of animated series "TripTank." Said effort follows Jeff (voiced by Brett Gelman) and three extraterrestrials "who are sent to Earth to study the world's most average guy to evaluate whether humanity and the planet should be destroyed." Alex Bulkley and Corey Campondonico will also executive produce alongside ShadowMachine Studios. The other is "The Amazing Danny," which "puts viewers inside the mind of a lovable schlub in his mid-20s." Donnelly and Minoli will write and direct both projects. (THR.com)

COCAINE COWBOYS (TNT/WHT; W: Michelle Ashford; D: Mark Pellington) - Michael Stahl-David (In Your Eyes) is the latest to be cast in the pilot, a drama set in the wild and unpredictable world of the Florida drug trade in the 1970s. He'll play Bobby Nickel, "a charismatic, brilliant and driven man who came from nothing and quickly learned to make his own rules. Now a husband, father and successful pot runner working for a local Cuban drug lord, Bobby leads a double life - both in business and in love." Elizabeth Perkins, Kristen Hager, Kelsey Siepser, Adria Arjona and Oscar Jaenada also star. (Deadline.com)

DEEP STATE (FOX, New!) - Justin Jordan and Ariela Kristantina's comic book - about "curious and driven FBI agent Katherine Branch, who is recruited by a shadowy branch of the government known as Control to promote popular conspiracy theories to distract from fantastical happenings and unexplained events" - is being developed as a drama at the network. Anna Fricke ("Being Human") is penning the adaptation for Howard Gordon and Hugh Fitzpatrick's 20th Century Fox Television-based Teakwood Lane and Ross Richie and Stephen Christy's BOOM! Studios. (Deadline.com)

RINSE, THE (FOX, New!) - Gary Phillips and Marc Laming's comic book - about Jeff Sinclair, "an underworld money-laundering figure who is unwillingly pulled into a dangerous gig laundering $25 million in stolen casino skim money" - is likewise being eyed as a drama series at the network. Mick Betancourt ("Necessary Roughness") is spearheading the adaptation for 20th Century Fox Television with BOOM! Studios' Ross Richie and Stephen Christy likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)

#WINNING (NBC, New!) - Ben McMillan, Meredith Philpott and Josh Greenbaum have scored a script commitment from the Peacock for a comedy "based on an event from the trio's real life where their suddenly famous pal broke up with their entire friend group via a form letter, leaving them more determined than ever to "win" at life." Universal Television is behind the half-hour with McMillan and Philpott attached to write and executive produce alongside Greenbaum and Working Title's Gina Girolamo and Christine Conley. (THR.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Lenora Crichlow and Spencer Grammer have both joined the cast of NBC's "Mr. Robinson" as Victoria Wavers, "a successful former Wall Street trader who left the Street to pursue her true calling as a high school English teacher," and Ashleigh Willows, "a Math teacher at the school who moonlights as an exotic dancer to help pay off her mortgage," respectively (Deadline.com); "CSI" mainstay George Eads will depart the series at the end of the current 15th season (TVGuide.com); and Meaghan Rath will guest on "New Girl" as a potential love interest for Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.) (THR.com).
