BACK ON THE FARM (NBC, New!) - Maggie Bandur ("Community") is developing a new single-camera comedy at the Peacock about "a Hollywood actress whose life suddenly implodes, forcing her to move back to her family's farm." Said effort was conceived alongside actress/producer Krysten Ritter for Universal Television with both executive producing alongside Silent Machine's Lindsey Liberatore. (Deadline.com)


MISFITS/THE PHOENIX PROJECT (The CW, New!) - Martin Gero ("The L.A. Complex") is back in business with the netlet for a pair of dramas. The former is a domestic take on the U.K. series of the same name, about "a group of young offenders with supernatural powers." The latter then revolves around "three friends who, in an attempt to combat apathy, take an anarchistic, dangerous and morally questionable approach to save society from itself." Both projects are set up at Warner Bros. Television with Gero executive producing via his Quinn's House banner. "Misfits" was originally developed at The CW last season and has been rolled over and given an order for a new script. (Deadline.com)


POWERS (PSN/Sony; W: Charlie Huston; D: David Slade) - Justice Leak has joined the cast of the upcoming drama, based on Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's comic of the same name, about two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to protect humans like us and investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities. He's set as Kutter, "a rude, media-ready charming detective with half a night school law degree." Adam Godley, Max Fowler, Eddie Izzard, Michelle Forbes, Noah Taylor and Olesya Rulin co-star. (Deadline.com)


SELF PROMOTION (MTV; W: Steve Yockey; D: Zach Braff) - Alexandra Krosney and Nichole Bloom have both been cast in the drama pilot, about "overworked assistant Katie Preston (Krosney) who discovers that her dragon lady boss is missing (or worse). Things get messy fast, with Katie, believing she'll be the prime suspect, covering up the crime scene." Bloom then will play Katie's law student roommate Winter, "an odd mix of a little bit naughty librarian and a little bit stoner." (Deadline.com)


THOMAS BERRYMAN NUMBER, THE (CBS, New!) - "Law & Order" veteran Rene Balcer is spearheading a new drama based on James Patterson's debut crime novel, about "an FBI agent who works in the Criminal Section of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division investigating crimes based on civil rights violations across the country. She finds herself caught between the radical family she was born into and the professional family she has chosen." CBS Television Studios is behind the hour, which as a put pilot commitment. Balcer and Patterson then will executive produce alongside James Patterson Entertainment's Leopoldo Gout and Bill Robinson and Tribeca Productions' Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal with Berry Welsh serving as a co-executive producer. UNTITLED ANDREA NEWMAN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Andrea Newman ("Chicago Fire") has sold a new drama to the Peacock "inspired by the rich world of Hispanic folklore and myth, with each season exploring a different legend and be set in the present-day Southwest. The first season is based on the ancient Hispanic tale of La Llorona, the weeping woman, and follows a troubled Detective investigating a young mother accused of trying to drown her child in a small town hiding a supernatural secret." Universal Television is behind the hour with UnbelieEVAble Entertainment's Eva Longoria and Ben Spector likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)


UNTITLED PATRICIA CORNWELL PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Bestselling author Patricia Cornwell is developing a new drama at the Eye about "a brilliant, unorthodox detective who works for San Diego's Major Crimes Unit where demons from her past come back to haunt her." ABC Studios is behind the hour with the studio-based Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Carlton Cuse has signed a three-year, first-look development deal with A+E Studios, home to "Bates Motel" and the upcoming "The Returned" (Deadline.com); Warren Littlefield has likewise signed a first look agreement with Legendary Television (Deadline.com); Kathy Griffin is reportedly in talks to succeed the late Joan Rivers as host of "Fashion Police" (THR.com); and Sammi Hanratty has been cast in Lifetime's "Seeds of Yesterday" as Cindy Sheffield, "the rebellious adopted daughter of Chris (Jason Lewis) and Cathy Dollanganger (Rachael Carpani)" (THR.com).
