"My Wish" on SportsCenter Returns July 20

50th Wish to be Granted Since Series Began in 2006

2014 Wishes with Cam Newton, Dustin Pedroia, Michigan football, Gabby Douglas

Starting Sunday, July 20, three marquee athletes and one team will be featured in sports-themed wishes granted during ESPN's ninth annual SportsCenter "My Wish" series, a partnership between the network and Make-A-Wish(R). Michigan becomes the first collegiate "My Wish" while Wednesday's Wish -- Gabby Douglas - will be the 50th granted since the series began in 2006.

Preview the 2014 series hosted by Emmy Award-winning reporter Chris Connelly, who has hosted the previous eight "My Wish" series.

Each wish will be the subject of a SportsCenter segment (the first on Sunday's 10 a.m. ET SportsCenter, the others debuting on each weekday's 6 p.m. SportsCenter, culminating with a compilation piece on Thursday or Saturday, July 24/26).

My Wish 2014

· Sunday, July 20 - Cam Newton: 6 year-old George, who has battled lymphoma, joins his favorite team and works out with his favorite QB.

· Monday, July 21 - Dustin Pedroia: 12 year-old Jace survived numerous heart surgeries. Now he shows his favorite player how to hit one over the Green Monster.

· Tuesday, July 22 -- University of Michigan football: 18 year-old Stephen, still in treatment for leukemia, wants to be a prized Wolverine recruit.

· Wednesday, July 23 -- Gabby Douglas: 13-year-old Amarissa, a former gymnast who suffers from renal disease and lupus, trains with the Olympic gold medalist.

· Thursday, July 24/Saturday, July 26 - Compilation of highlights from this year's Wishes.

The series shows wishes coming true in the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Each segment gives viewers an in-depth and often emotional story, starting with how the wish is revealed to how the child interacts with his/her favorite athlete.

Connelly will be joined by the Carolina Panthers two-time Pro-Bowl quarterback Cam Newton, four-time All-Star and 2008 American League MVP Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox, the University of Michigan football team, the series' first collegiate Wish, and 2012 Olympic gold medal gymnast Gabby Douglas.
