By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

COCKED (Amazon; W: Sam Shaw & Samuel Baum; D: TBA) - Dreama Walker ("Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23") is set to star opposite Sam Trammell in the drama pilot, about Richard Paxson (Trammell), an estranged son who must return to work with his father Wade and brother at his family's gun manufacturing company after a corporate rival, run by their uncle, moves to take them over. She'll play Wade's illegitimate daughter Tabby, "who now works in marketing for the Paxson Firearms company and butts heads with Richard." (Deadline.com)

SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT (Showtime, New!) - Spike Lee is looking to bring his debut 1985 feature - about a young, sexually independent Brooklynite who juggles three suitors - to the small screen as a half-hour comedy. The project will take "a new, contemporary look at the characters and will explore Lee's unique and provocative points of view about race, gender, sexuality, relationships, and the gentrification in Brooklyn." Lee is attached to write, direct and executive produce. (Deadline.com)

UNSTRUNG (ABC Family; W: Emily Whitesell; D: Jay Karas) - British actor Alex Roe has been tapped as the male lead on the drama pilot, which explores the sexy, cutthroat, and emotional stakes of the professional world tour of tennis as brother and sister Luke and Ellie Holt (Chanel Celaya) compete to move up the ranks. The Holts may seem to have it all in a world where success is not only determined by prowess on the court, but by looks, charm and the ability to hide your faults under pressure from fans, critics, opponents, and even your closest allies. But a major family secret threatens to turn their lives, and their hard-earned family "brand," upside down. He'll play the aforementioned Luke Holt in the project, which has also added Jay Karas as director. Sofia Mattsson co-stars. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Netflix has reportedly renewed "Orange Is the New Black" for a third season (@OrangeWriters); Nick Sandow's Joe Caputo and Selenis Leyva's Gloria Mendoza have been upped to series regulars on said season (Deadline.com); Craig Zisk has stepped in to direct AMC's "Knifeman" following the exit of Brian Percival (Deadline.com); Seth Gilliam has joined the cast of "The Walking Dead" as a new regular with "two sides, displaying a friendly, puckish humor but also having a haunted side stemming from a dark secret" (Deadline.com); Damon Wayans, Jr. will continue as a series regular on "New Girl" next season (Deadline.com);

"Once Upon a Time" co-executive producer Andrew Chambliss has signed a two-year, seven-figure overall deal with producer ABC Studios (Deadline.com); Jocko Sims will recur on "Masters of Sex" as "an activist with CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) and has a clear eyed sense of injustice and a willingness to do whatever is necessary to see his cause through" (Deadline.com); and "NCIS" co-stars Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum and Rocky Carroll have all closed deals to return next season (TVLine.com).
