By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

THE FLASH (The CW/Warner Bros.; W: Andrew Kreisberg, Geoff Johns & Greg Berlanti; D: David Nutter) - Jesse L. Martin ("Law & Order") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, a small screen take on the DC Comics hero Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), a Central City assistant police forensics investigator-turned-superhero. He's set as Detective West, "an honest, blue-collar cop who is a surrogate father to Allen." The news marks the first casting since Allen's appearance on two episodes of "Arrow" last year. (Deadline.com)

TRIBECA (TBS; W: Nancy Carell & Steve Carell; D: Steve Carell) - Rashida Jones ("Parks & Recreation") has been tapped for the lead role on the single-camera comedy pilot, about Angie Tribeca ,a 10-year veteran of the LAPD's elite RHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit). The show explores an eccentric but brilliant group of people who investigate crime, reveal way too much personal information about themselves and refuse to rest until justice has been served. These dedicated men and women are more than counter-intuitive; they are non-intuitive. Filming on the project is expected to begin by March. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED KZK PROJECT (Netflix/Sony; W: Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman & Glenn Kessler; D: TBA) - Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises) has been cast in the Kyle Chandler-led drama series, about a family of adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home. He'll play the aforementioned black sheep oldest brother, Danny, with Chandler as "the married middle brother who takes care of the family." Production is slated to begin in the Florida Keys in late March. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - NBC has opted not to proceed with Alexandra Cunningham's proposed re-imagining of "Murder, She Wrote" starring Octavia Spencer despite a put pilot commitment (Deadline.com); John Ridley has signed a deal to direct his drama pilot "American Crime" at ABC (THR.com); comedy pilot "Strange Calls," which has a cast-contingent pilot order at ABC, is reportedly eyeing a move to NBC for the next development season (Deadline.com); and Disney Channel has picked up eight more episodes of its "Boy Meets World" revival "Girl Meets World" for a total of 21 (@DanielleFishel).
