EYE CANDY (MTV, New!) - A small screen take on the R.L. Stine's novel - about "tech genius Lindy, who is persuaded by her roommate to begin online dating and begins to suspect that one of her mysterious suitors might be a deadly cyber stalker" - has received a pilot order from the cable channel. Co-executive producer Emmy Grinwis penned the adaptation - in which "Lindy works to solve the murders while unleashing her own style of justice on the streets of New York City" - while Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) is attached to direct and executive produce alongside Blumhouse Productions' Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity). (Deadline.com)

FINDING CARTER (MTV, New!) - Emily Silver ("Bones") has received a pilot order for a new drama about teenager Carter, "who has the perfect life with her fun-loving single mom Lori until a police bust at a high school party reveals that Lori abducted her as a toddler. Now Carter must return to the family who thought they had lost her. As she navigates brand-new parents, a twin sister, high school and boys, Carter vows to find Lori before the police capture the only mom she's ever known and put her behind bars." Terri Minsky ("The Carrie Diaries") is also on board to executive produce the hour. (Deadline.com)

THE RUNT (CBS, New!) - Writer Kay Cannon ("New Girl") and director Jason Winer ("The Crazy Ones") are set to team for a single camera comedy about "a group of five adult siblings from the point of view of The Runt. Always the scrawniest and the butt of the joke, she's now the most successful. And no matter how hard she tries, she can't seem to break the family dynamics established when she was a kid." The 20th Century Fox Television-based half-hour has a pilot production commitment with Small Dog Picture Co.'s Renate Radford executive producing alongside the aforementioned duo. (Deadline.com)

SHADOW LAND (WGN America, New!) - Stuart Max Perelmuter is developing a period drama at the network "set in feudal Japan during the 1820s and chronicles the conflicts that arise from the Wild West-style trading post of Dejima, a samurai-guarded island in Nagasaki Bay, which for 200 years was home to the only Americans and Europeans permitted contact with the Japanese." Entertainment One is behind the hour, which is based on an original concept by the company's Harrison Reishman. John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg are also among the executive producers. (THR.com)

SISTER WHIPPED (CBS, New!) - Feature writer Hank Nelken (Mama's Boy) has sold a new semi-autobiographical comedy to the Eye about "a man raised by his sisters who searches to define what it means to be a guy in the modern world, while struggling with the half woman he was nurtured to be." David Janollari and Steve McPherson will also serve as executive producers via their respective companies, David Janollari Entertainment and Wonder Monkey, for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED DAVE JESER/MATT SILVERSTEIN PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser ("Axe Cop") have scored a put pilot commitment for a multi-camera comedy about "brothers from a multi-racial family who, when reunited in their hometown as adults, quickly find that their past as troublemakers (and occasionally a**holes) is about to finally catch up with them." The semi-autobiographical project is set up at 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)

ZE (The CW, New!) - Playwright Kyle Jarrow (A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant) has set up a potential series at the netlet billed as "a raw, quirky family drama about a FTM (female-to-male) teen and his family." CBS Television Studios is behind the hour - whose title represents a non-gender-specific reference (like he or she) - with Oscar nominee Michael London (Sideways) also attached to executive produce. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Maria Canals-Barrera will recur on FOX's "Gang Related" as Javier's (Cliff Curtis) wife and mother to Carlos (Rey Gallegos) and Daniel (Jay Hernandez) (THR.com); Roxana Brusso is bound for ABC's "Betrayal" as "an FBI agent who may butt heads with Drew (Chris Johnson)" (THR.com); truTV has commissioned a 13-episode second season of "Container Wars" (Deadline.com); BET has reportedly given a second season order to its upcoming drama "Being Mary Jane," while "Reed Between the Lines" won't continue past its yet-to-be-scheduled second season (Deadline.com); Cameron Diaz has sign on as a producer of CBS's "Bad Teacher," based on her 2011 feature of the same name (Deadline.com); and Bex Taylor-Klaus, Rob Gleeson and Ryan Gaul are among the latest faces to visit "House of Lies" this season (Deadline.com).
