THE LEFTOVERS (HBO/Warner Bros.; W: Damon Lindelof & Tom Perrotta; D: Peter Berg) - Amy Brenneman, Emily Meade and Jake Robinson are the latest to board the drama pilot, which takes place after the Rapture happens but not quite like it's supposed to. Brenneman is set as Laurie, "a woman who has left her entire life behind to join a mysterious cult"; with Meade as Amy, "an uninhibited high school student who seemingly takes the apocalypse in stride" and Robinson as "the guy we all wish we were in high school." Justin Theroux, Margaret Qualley, Amanda Warren, Ann Dowd, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Michael Gaston, Charlie Carver and Max Carver also star. (Deadline.com)

MOHICANS (FX, New!) - James Fenimore Cooper's 1826 classic "The Last of the Mohicans" - about the French's Native American allies during their war with Great Britain over control of North America in 1757 - is being developed as a potential limited series at the cable channel. Chris Crowe, who co-wrote the screenplay for the 1992 film starring Daniel Day-Lewis, is penning the project alongside Kerry McCluggage and Steve Beck. Crowe and McCluggage then will executive produce with Beck as a producer. (THR.com)

PAPA NOEL (Lifetime, New!) - Ed Asner and Markie Post are set to star in a new holiday movie at the cable channel about Lilly (Post), "a Southern woman described as salty, funny and filled with a life force," with Asner set as Santa Claus. Leslie Hope is directing from a script by Brian D. Young with Daniel Lewis of Active Entertainment producing. (THR.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Syfy has postponed its five-episode horror anthology series from Jamie Foxx due to "scheduling reasons" (Deadline.com); Mandy Safavi has been tapped as president of Melissa Rosenberg's ABC Studios-based Tall Girls Productions (Deadline.com); Gina Girolamo likewise has joined McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision to run the television division of the newly independent banner (Deadline.com); E! is reportedly finalizing cast-contingent pilot orders for its dramas "Songbyrd" and "The Royals" (Deadline.com); Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager of Den of Thieves have been tapped to join "American Idol" as executive producers (Deadline.com); and Pooch Hall will guest on "Necessary Roughness" as "a boxer who seeks help from Dani after finding it difficult to step into the ring" (TVLine.com).
