Discovery's "American Chopper" to Wrap Run, Again

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The Teutuls are saying goodbye, again.
Discovery Communications announced today that its decade-old franchise "American Chopper" will conclude after its upcoming "Chopper Live: The Revenge" special on Tuesday, December 11 at 9:00/8:00c.
"After 10 years and 233 episodes of incredible, riveting reality television, 'American Chopper' will be ending its run," the company's Eileen O'Neill told EW.com. "This series was one of the very first family-based reality programs on television. Special thanks to Pilgrim Studios for over a decade of great producing. The Teutuls have given us really innovative bike builds and real drama since 2002. We wish both Orange County Choppers and Paul Junior Designs the best."
Said news marks the second time the Discovery-turned-TLC-turned-Discovery-once-again series has signed off, following a six-month hiatus in 2010 between seasons six and seven after which it was rebranded "American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior" (a subtitle that was subsequently dropped earlier this year).
The show's current season is averaging 1.526 million viewers and a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49, down a few ticks from its ninth season (1.894 million viewers, 0.9 adults 18-49 rating).
Pilgrim Studios is behind the series, with Craig Piligian, Ralph Wikke, Mitch Rosa and Mike Nichols among the executive producers.
