ABC Announces November Sweeps Programming

ABC ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER SWEEPS PROGRAMMING

The ABC Television Network announces highlights of its upcoming November sweeps programming, including special Halloween and Thanksgiving-themed episodes of some of television's biggest hit series, "The 45th Annual CMA Awards" and "2011 American Music Awards," a one-hour "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition A Veterans Day Special," and of course "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

"JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE" - Jimmy Kimmel hosts a big November sweeps filled with outstanding guests and comedy. Kimmel kicks off the first week with an all-star comedian lineup of Adam Sandler, Ellen DeGeneres and upcoming 84th Annual Academy Awards(R) host Eddie Murphy. The late-night host celebrates the conclusion of the "Twilight Saga" movie series with appearances from its leading stars, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Peter Facinelli. Sweeps also brings an entertainment packed Halloween-themed show, with guests Pee-wee Herman, "Dancing with the Stars" judge Bruno Tonioli and Kimmel dressed in costume, along with Kimmel's house band and parking lot security guard, Guillermo. Halloween night's music performance will be provided by iconic metal band Megadeth, who will also come dressed in holiday costumes. World Champion boxer Manny Pacquiao returns to sing yet another magical duet (following his last appearance with Will Ferrell) - but this time, he's crooning with Kimmel. Additional guests gracing the couch include Justin Timberlake, Rebecca Romijn, Tim Allen, Freida Pinto, Mickey Rourke, Artie Lange, Miss Piggy and "The Middle's" Atticus Shaffer. In addition November brings the very first interview with the "Dancing with the Stars" Mirror Ball Champion, the celebration of Kimmel's self-proclaimed annual holiday -- "National Unfriend Day" -- and a tribute show to legendary broadcaster Regis Philbin after his highly-anticipated goodbye from "Live! With Regis and Kelly." Following a special appearance by MTV's Beavis and Butt-Head, who attempt to hijack "JKL" during a Snooki interview, Kimmel sits down the next night with 84th Annual Academy Awards producer Brett Ratner. Sweeps musical performances include The Fray, Wale, Nicole Scherzinger, Chickenfoot, Christina Perri, Morrissey, Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill, Lady Antebellum, and Thompson Square. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (12:00 a.m. - 1:06 a.m., ET).

"IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN" -- The classic animated Halloween-themed PEANUTS special, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (OAD on ABC 10/30/01), created by late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, as well as a bonus PEANUTS cartoon, "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown," in which Linus runs for class president, will air THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). The program will air with Spanish audio via SAP.

"GREY'S ANATOMY" - "Put Me In, Coach" - Owen stresses teamwork and moves his leadership role over to the baseball field when he signs the doctors up for a baseball league, pitting them against their biggest competition, Seattle Presbyterian; Lexie tries to hide her jealous rage when she sees Mark with a new woman, but her emotions get the better of her; Alex fights to keep Zola at Seattle Grace after it's suggested that she be moved to another hospital due to a conflict of interest with Meredith and Derek; and Richard scolds Meredith and Bailey for their feud, on Grey's Anatomy, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET).

"PRIVATE PRACTICE" -- "Step One" - Addison begins in vitro fertilization treatments with Jake's help, unbeknownst to Sam, Amelia is deeply conflicted when her terminally-ill friend, Michelle, asks her assistance in her suicide, and Sam and Violet contend with a patient who refuses his anti-psychotic medication, on "Private Practice," THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27 (10:02-11:00 p.m., ET). Guest starring A.J. Langer ("My So-Called Life"). Sydney Tamiia Poitier returns as Michelle.

"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" - "McPhail Family Parts 1 & 2" - The "EM:HE" crew travels to Medford, Oregon to help the McPhail Family, who started a local nonprofit to help children with special needs, never dreaming that someday their own two children would be need its services after the boys were diagnosed with autism. Acclaimed author, professor and animal behaviorist Dr. Temple Grandin, one of the most visible spokespeople for those with autism, helps the "EM:HE" design team create a new home for the family with sensitivities to the needs of the boys, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 (8:00-9:00 and 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET).

"ONCE UPON A TIME" -- "The Thing You Love Most" - Regina does everything in her power to force Emma out of Storybrooke and out of her and Henry's lives forever. Meanwhile, the chilling circumstances of how the Evil Queen released the curse upon the fairytale world is revealed, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). Kristin Bauer ("True Blood") guest stars as Maleficent.

"DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES" --"Witch's Lament" - As Halloween approaches, Gaby, Bree and Lynette must attempt to exhume and move the body of Gaby's murdered stepfather after learning that Ben's real estate development excavation is taking place on that very spot. Meanwhile, Susan discovers that being art teacher Andre's (Miguel Ferrer) intern involves tending to matters that don't involve art; not to be outdone by Tom's new girlfriend, Lynette tries to construct a homemade Halloween costume for Penny; and Renee uses a little enticement to help spice up her first night of romance with Ben, on "Desperate Housewives," SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET). Tony Plana, who played Gaby's stepfather, directed the episode.

"PAN AM" -- "The Genuine Article" -- Maggie is perilously close to losing her job for insubordination, but still manages to maneuver her way onto the flight down to Rio de Janeiro. She reflects back on the rocky path she took to land her dream job, but it's her decision to do whatever it takes to keep it that surprises even her. Meanwhile, Kate has earned her stripes as a courier, but when she is given a difficult mission involving Niko, a Yugoslavian diplomat, she's unsure how to manage the task, as she tries to juggle their deepening personal relationship with her assignment. Finally, Ginny and Dean continue to play with fire in Rio, but Ginny's game playing with both Dean and her boss and lover, a Pan Am executive, is a source of contention with Dean, on "Pan Am," SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET).

"SCARED SHREKLESS" -- Halloween is Shrek's favorite holiday, and this year he's planning a night of frights -- all done ogre-style. Instead of the usual tricks or treats, Shrek challenges Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots and the other fairy tale characters to spend the night in Lord Farquaad's haunted castle telling scary stories. The last one to be scared "Shrekless" will win, MONDAY, OCTOBER 31 (7:58-8:30 p.m., ET).

"DANCING WITH THE STARS" - "Episode 1307" -- "Halloween" - "Dancing with the Stars" celebrates Halloween with an exciting themed show filled with thrilling dance performances, as the remaining six couples will each perform a dance as well as compete in a team dance, MONDAY, OCTOBER 31 (8:30-10:01 p.m., ET).

"CASTLE" -- "Cops & Robbers" -- When Castle and Martha are taken hostage by a crew of bank robbers dressed in hospital scrubs and using classic television doctor names (Trapper John M.D., Dr. Huxtable, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and Dr. Doogie Howser), Beckett finds herself on the outside, desperately trying to rescue them -- which proves to be even more difficult with a by-the-book hostage negotiator (guest star Dean Norris, "Breaking Bad") watching her every move. Castle becomes the de facto leader of the hostages, which includes Barry Livingston ("My Three Sons"), and discovers that the robbery is actually a skillfully orchestrated distraction for an even more sinister plan. But with Castle stuck on the inside and Beckett on the outside, will either be able to foil the bank robbers' plans before it is too late? "Castle" airs MONDAY, OCTOBER 31 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET). "

LAST MAN STANDING" -- "Co-Ed Softball" - Mike must decide which way he will vote when the all-male Outdoor Man's softball team gets a mandate to allow females to play. Also, while helping a reluctant Mandy fill out college applications, Kristin makes some decisions about her own future. Mike hopes Mandy will go to his alma mater of Michigan State, but Vanessa wants her to attend her alma mater, the rival Ohio State, on "Last Man Standing," TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET).

"MAN UP" -- "Digging Deeper" -- When roommates Kenny and Craig clash, Will suggests they try doing a project together, but that simple suggestion turns into the pair trying to dig their own swimming pool. Meanwhile Theresa, trying to promote some togetherness with Will, wants him to take an improv class with her, something he's been avoiding because of overwhelming stress at work that he's been keeping from her. And Brenda is beginning to feel like she has a little too much togetherness with Grant on "Man Up," airing TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET).

"DANCING WITH THE STARS THE RESULTS SHOW" - "Episode 1307A" -- "Halloween" - The entertainment continues with stunning musical guests as well as the second "AT&T Spotlight Performance" of the season. Additionally, the seventh couple to be eliminated will be sent home live, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET).

"BODY OF PROOF" -- "Hard Knocks" - When a popular 17-year-old high school student is found dead after a rave, the team must decipher various unknown drugs in his system and multiple bruises to figure out the cause of death. Meanwhile, Meghan is finally starting to date again after the divorce, but her ex-husband springs some shocking news on her and her daughter, causing tension at home, on "Body of Proof," TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET).

"THE MIDDLE" - "Heck's Best Thing" - Frankie and Mike are convinced that slacker son Axl will blow his interview with a football scout, which could earn him a scholarship to college. Meanwhile, Sue and Brick begin a texting marathon - and rack up some serious charges - when they discover that Aunt Edie accidentally gave them her cell phone; and Frankie tries to be completely attentive to the family's needs when she realizes that she's more considerate to outsiders than her own kin, on "The Middle," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET).

"SUBURGATORY" -- "Charity Case" - Irritated by all the cafeteria waste at school, Tessa motivates the student body to get involved with giving back. Unfortunately their charity of choice involves helping residents of Florida improve their complexions. When Tessa introduces a homeless transsexual to the student body as part of a lesson, they decide that Tessa is really the person in need. Meanwhile George receives a large dental bill from Noah, which puts a strain on their relationship, on "Suburgatory," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET).

"MODERN FAMILY" - "Treehouse" - Hanging out with Shorty (Chazz Palminteri) and his girlfriend, Darlene (Jennifer Tilly), makes Gloria envious of how much those two do as a couple, so she gives Jay an ultimatum to step it up for a night of salsa dancing or else. Meanwhile, Cameron take a bet a little too far when Mitchell and Crispin challenge him to get a hot girl's (Leslie Mann) number at the bar, and Phil builds a tree house for Luke, but ends up being the one to make a new friend (Kevin Hart), on "Modern Family," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET).

"HAPPY ENDINGS" -- "Lying Around" - When Brad hears that Jane's old sorority sister is coming for a visit, he lies and says he has a work retreat out of town, but he's actually on "staycation" in a fancy hotel in the city; Alex meets a new guy, Liam, but his dates are over-the-top; and Max and Dave make a commercial to promote the "Steak Me Home Tonight" food truck, on "Happy Endings," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 (9:31-10:00 p.m., ET). "REVENGE" -- "Charade" - The Graysons' 25th wedding anniversary is a less than celebratory occasion when their desire to lay low is interrupted with a high profile story in the paper and a volatile family dinner featuring unwanted guests; the fate of Lydia hangs heavy over everyone, and Frank, desperate to prove his steadfast loyalty to Victoria, digs deep into Emily's past and uncovers too much, on "Revenge," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET).

"CHARLIE'S ANGELS" -- "Black Hat Angels" - The Angels trace a kidnapped artist to a gallery owner who was the victim of extortion. When they dig to identify the extortionist, they discover that Bosley's identity has been compromised, and that he has been tied to the kidnapping. In order to clear his name, they must find out who is responsible - and it's someone from Bosley's computer hacking past -- on "Charlie's Angels," THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).

"GREY'S ANATOMY" -- "Heart-Shaped Box" - The doctors become nostalgic when George O'Malley's mother, Louise, returns to Seattle Grace for medical help after a botched surgery at a neighboring hospital; the residents are inspired by a medical miracle when they witness a harvested heart that continues to beat outside the body; a new pediatric fellow excites Arizona and makes Alex feel threatened; Jackson lets his suspicions about Mark and Lexie interfere with his work; and Henry and Teddy have their first marital fight when he expresses interest in pursuing medical school, on Grey's Anatomy, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET).

"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" -- "Hill Family Parts 1 & 2" - Award-winning actress Glenn Close personally nominated the Hill family and appears in this episode. The patriarch, Staff Sergeant Allen Hill, an Iraqi war vet who suffers from crippling PTSD, was unable to return home, since it's situated near a busy railroad and quarry with frequent explosions that can trigger his condition. With the help of the organization founded by Ms. Close, Bring Change 2 Mind, and a therapy dog program called Puppies Behind Bars, the designers from "EM:HE" will work to build the Hill family a new home in a quiet environment to be reunited with his wife and children, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (8:00-9:00 & 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET)

"ONCE UPON A TIME" -- "Snow Falls" - At Henry's urging, Emma convinces Mary Margaret to pay a visit to a comatose John Doe in the hospital and to read to him from the storybook. But Mary Margaret is stunned at the outcome of her visit. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale world, Prince Charming meets Snow White for the first time in a most unexpected way, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).

Gates work the New York leads together, Castle naturally chooses to join the detectives for the road trip to "America's Playground," hoping to help solve the case while throwing an impromptu bachelor party for Ryan. "COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS" -- "The 45th Annual CMA Awards" -- Hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, "The 45th Annual CMA Awards" airs live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Faith Hill, former CMA Female Vocalist of the Year will return to give her first performance on "Country Music's Biggest Night(TM)" in five years. Hill will debut her new single, "Come Home," from her forthcoming new album due out early next year. Additional performers include Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, plus Paisley and Underwood in their first live televised-performance of their No. 1 song, "Remind Me." In addition, nominees Natasha Bedingfield and Grace Potter will make their debuts with special duet performances. Bedingfield will team with Rascal Flatts to perform their current single, "Easy," while Potter will join fellow nominee and four-time CMA Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney on their hit song, "You and Tequila," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET).

"CHARLIE'S ANGELS" - "Royal Angels"-- The Angels must uncover who is behind the assassination of an African king while protecting his son, Mark, the sole heir to the throne. As Mark struggles to deal with the tremendous responsibility that is suddenly thrust upon him, Ray works alongside Kate to investigate the shooting, which causes her to reconsider their relationship on "Charlie's Angels," THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).

"GREY'S ANATOMY" --"Dark Was the Night" - Teddy puts her husband's life in the hands of her peers when Henry is sent to the OR for surgery and she's called away on another case; Meredith and Derek receive the long-awaited news about Zola; Callie and Jackson come under fire when their patient experiences post-surgery complications; and Meredith and Alex are involved in a life-threatening situation when they travel to a neighboring hospital to tend to a sick newborn, on Grey's Anatomy, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET).

"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" - "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition A Veterans Day Special" -- "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and the Entertainment Industry Foundation are joining forces for a one-hour special fundraising event entitled." Host Ty Pennington and singer/songwriter Jewel will take viewers on an inspiring journey back to some of the most heartwarming military stories featured throughout the series. The "EM:HE" crew will also pay a visit to select heroic families to find out what they've been up to since the makeover and how they are paying it forward by helping their fellow veterans. Throughout the episode, celebrities will highlight issues facing our military. The special will enable the television audience to give back and donate to the military families who give so much - a chance to rise up and honor those who have personally sacrificed so much to ensure our freedom. The special will air on Veterans Day, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).

"ONCE UPON A TIME" -- "The Price of Gold" - Emma tries to help a young pregnant woman escape from the clutches of Mr. Gold. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale world that was, Cinderella (Jessy Schram, "Falling Skies") makes a regrettable deal with Rumplestiltskin, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES" -- "Suspicion Song" - Detective Chuck Vance begins harassing Bree as his suspicions about her involvement in the disappearance of Alejandro grow; after using the murder of Gaby's stepfather as inspiration for her art school projects, Susan must find a way to graciously decline art school teacher Andre's (Miguel Ferrer) invitation to display and sell her paintings at a gallery showing; when Carlos's drinking gets in the way of his ability to work, Gaby goes to the office in an effort to save his business from losing a multi-million dollar account; and on the occasion of their 22-year anniversary, Lynette comes up with a plan to try to salvage her marriage to Tom, on "Desperate Housewives," SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET).

PRIVATE PRACTICE -- In the first hour or a special two-hour edition of ABC's "Private Practice," THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) -- entitled "Who We Are" -- the Seaside Wellness group stages an intervention for a defensive and volatile Amelia, who has resurfaced after disappearing on a 12-day drug binge with her boyfriend, Ryan. During the intervention, Amelia mercilessly attacks her friends one-by-one, and Addison, in particular, has trouble seeing her sister-in-law in her present condition. In the second hour, entitled "The Breaking Point," Amelia makes the hard decision to enter a rehab facility, and finds strength through an 18 year-old girl, as they both go through the painful detox process. Meanwhile, Cooper's strengthening bond with his son is tested by his allegiance to a patient in need, Pete and Violet's marriage reaches a tipping point, and Addison collapses from her rigorous fertility treatments.

"AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS" -- dick clark productions (dcp) president and executive producer Orly Adelson recently announced that Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5 will perform at the "2011 American Music Awards(R)". They join previously announced acts including Pitbull and Katy Perry. Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera will team up to perform "Moves Like Jagger." In keeping with recent tradition, the "American Music Awards" is a host-free event that highlights music's biggest artists performing on one stage. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks. The show will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET).
