By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

GO GIRLS (ABC, New!) - Liz Tuccillo ("Sex and the City") is looking to import the New Zealand series to the U.S. The project, about "three 25-year-old women and their male childhood friend who, dissatisfied with their lives, make challenging promises to one another that they set out to fulfill," has a script commitment from the network and ABC Studios. Former ABC Studios executive Julia Franz is behind the hour, which she's executive producing alongside writer Tuccillo and South Pacific Pictures's John Barnett.

THE GOOD WIFE (CBS) - Co-creators Michelle and Robert King have been upped to showrunners on the freshman drama. They'll take over for executive producer Dee Johnson on the back nine of its 22-episode. Johnson, who was brought in to supervise the first 13 episodes, will now focus on development.

THE MOUNTAIN (NBC) - Paige Turco and Barry Bostwick are the first to be cast in the two-hour backdoor pilot, about "Dana (Turco) a single mom with three kids who inherits a remote mountain cabin from a supposedly dead uncle. But when she heads off to the cabin, she discovers that her Uncle Henry (Bostwick) is very much alive, and they set out to keep an evil buyer from gaining access to the mountain that holds secrets and treasures." Crawford Wilson has also been cast in the pilot as one of Dana's kids. Production began this week in Montreal and Magog, Quebec with Doug Barr directing from his own script for Canada's Muse Entertainment.

WELCOME TO HITCHCOCK (NBC, New!) - Former Peacock executive Teri Weinberg has booked her first project as a producer, a drama from writers Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle ("Tin Man"). The project is the result of a first-look deal Weinberg and her Yellow Brick Road banner inked with NBC earlier this year. As for specifics, "Hitchcock" revolves around "a skilled but restless police detective who, in search of his missing brother, relocates to the city of Hitchcock, Calif., where he soon discovers a world of half-truths, peculiar characters and unanswered questions lying beneath the town's sparkling, friendly, blue-sky veneer of tradition and family values." Mitchell, Van Sickle and Weinberg are executive producing for Universal Media Studios.
