"SHARK TANK," THE EXCITING NEW SHOW THAT GIVES BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS A CHANCE TO MAKE THEIR MONEYMAKING BUSINESS OR IDEA COME TRUE, PREMIERES SUNDAY, AUGUST 9, ON THE ABC TELEVISION NETWORK

New Series Will Move to Tuesday Nights Beginning August 25

From Mark Burnett, executive producer of "Survivor" and "The Apprentice," and Sony Pictures Television comes "Shark Tank," an exciting, new reality show that gives budding entrepreneurs the chance to make their business dreams come true and become successful and possibly wealthy. But the entrepreneurs must first try to convince five tough, multi-millionaire tycoons to part with their own hard-earned cash and give them the funding they need to jump-start their ideas. The series premieres SUNDAY, AUGUST 9 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), immediately after "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" makes its return to ABC Primetime with a special 10th Anniversary Edition.

"Shark Tank" will move to its regular time period, 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning TUESDAY, AUGUST 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m.) after airing in the Sunday night slot for three weeks.

In these trying economic times, it's difficult for an individual possessing a dream or even a working small business poised for growth to get a loan for a risky venture. Whether it be an imaginative enhancement for an existing product, a family recipe that has all the ingredients to become a profitable culinary treat, or the latest technological gadget that could take the world by storm, most of these dreams die an early death because no one dared take a financial chance on someone with an unproven and oftentimes outrageous proposal.

Enter the Sharks of "Shark Tank," five real-life multi-millionaires who lifted themselves up by their bootstraps to make their own entrepreneurial dreams come true and turned their ideas into empires. These tough investors could be willing to part with their own hard-earned cash and give you the funding you need to jump-start your idea. But the investors, also known as Sharks, aren't just out to invest; they too have a goal -- to own a piece of your next big idea. The Sharks are:

 Barbara Corcoran, real estate mogul

 Kevin Harrington, "infomercial" industry pioneer

 Robert Herjavec, technology innovator

 Daymond John, fashion icon

 Kevin O'Leary, financial expert

Entrepreneurs will be selected through a nationwide search via the internet, and with open casting calls, which began in Los Angeles on June 6 and which will continue with additional casting calls in Orlando (June 11), New York (June 13) and Chicago (June 13). For more information on how to pitch breakthrough business concepts, products, properties and services to the Sharks in hopes of landing investment funds, go to abc.com.

Mark Burnett, Clay Newbill and Phil Gurin are the executive producers of "Shark Tank," based on the Japanese "Dragons' Den" format created by Nippon Television Network Corporation. The series is from Sony Pictures Television.
