QUICK TAKE

SALLY FIELD JOINS THE CAST OF ABCS NEW DRAMA, BROTHERS & SISTERS

Multiple Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Sally Field (Places in the Heart, Norma Rae, Sybil) joins the cast of Brothers & Sisters, airing Sundays this season (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Ms. Field will play Nora Holden, mother of the five Walker siblings. Brothers & Sisters follows the California based Walkers in a primetime drama about a close-knit family socially and financially intertwined by love, business -- and secrets.

As a two-time Academy Award winner for her performances in Places in the Heart and Norma Rae, Ms. Field continually captivates her audiences with her passion for bringing to life incredibly vivid characters. She received an Emmy Award for her title role as a young woman with multiple personalities in the four-hour television film Sybil, with Joanne Woodward. More recently she appeared in the feature Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde, and in The Glass Menangerie at the Kennedy Center. She made her Broadway debut in Edward Albees The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?

In the fall of 2000, Ms. Field made her feature film directorial debut with Beautiful, which starred Minnie Driver as a woman who aspires to become Miss America and will do anything to be crowned a beauty queen. She made her TV directorial debut in December 1996 with The Christmas Tree, a two-hour ABC telefilm starring Julie Harris, and also served as executive producer and shared writing credit on the project, which was based on Julie Salamons novel of the same name. In addition Ms. Field directed an episode of Tom Hanks epic miniseries From the Earth to the Moon for HBO entitled The Original Wives Club, which dealt with the experiences of the astronauts wives. This year she reprised her Emmy Award-winning role on the hit NBC drama ER.

Brothers & Sisters stars Calista Flockhart as Kitty, Sally Field as Nora Holden, Rachel Griffiths as Sarah, Balthazar Getty as Thomas, Dave Annable as Justin, Matthew Rhys as Kevin, John Pyper-Ferguson as Joe, Sarah Jane Morris as Julia, Ron Rifkin as Saul and Patricia Wettig as Holly.

Ken Olin, Jon Robin Baitz and Marti Noxon are executive producers. The series is produced by Touchstone Television.
