[via press release from The Hallmark Channel] |
THREE-TIME EMMY AWARD-WINNER BRAD GARRETT STARS IN THE CABLE TELEVISION PREMIERE OF GLEASON, ONLY ON THE HALLMARK CHANNEL
Garrett Nominated for an Emmy Award for the Extraordinary Story of The Great One
Hallmark Channel proudly presents three-time Emmy Award winning actor Brad
Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) in the cable television premiere of Gleason, the
critically-acclaimed biopic on the life of one of the most complex comedic minds in show
business history, Saturday, October 8 (9/8c).
The behind-the-scenes story of the Brooklyn comedic genius known for brash
humor and fast adlibs, Gleason explores Jackie Gleasons childhood and the influences
that led him to stardom. There was nay saying when Garrett was cast as Gleason.
However, the nearly 7-foot tall Garrett (who was nominated for an Emmy Award for
the role) delivers a total Gleason a man plagued by bad memories of a discordant
home life growing up in Brooklyn, self-doubt, frustration, womanizing, excessive alcohol
consumption, and chain smoking.
A brief engagement on DuMont's Cavalcade of Stars made Jackie Gleason an
overnight TV sensation. He remained on Cavalcade of Stars for two years, creating
most of his famous characterizations (Ralph Kramden, Joe the Bartender, Charlie
Bratton, The Poor Soul, and Reggie Van Gleason III.) The movie chronicles Gleasons
humble beginnings and sheds insight into the charming yet tormented mind of Americas
comic genius. This captivating portrayal of Gleason earned Garrett an Emmy and SAG
nomination in 2003 and as well as a DGA nomination for the films director, Howard
Deutch. Gleason also stars Saul Rubinek as George Durgom, Kristin Dalton as Audrey
Meadows and Terry Farrell as Marilyn Taylor.
