BRAVO INKS DEAL WITH HOLLYWOOD UNDERDOG KATHY GRIFFIN FOR SECOND INSTALLMENT OF 'KATHY GRIFFIN: D LIST SPECIAL'

LOS ANGELES -- January 13, 2005 -- Bravo signs deal with comic Kathy Griffin for a second one-hour special inspired by her no-holds-barred look at celebrity culture, and Hollywood's elite are trembling. "Kathy Griffin: D List Special" is slated to tape in February and will air later this year. The announcement was made today by Bravo President Lauren Zalaznick.

"Kathy's sharp wit and cutting commentary on entertainment and pop culture speaks to our audience, and we're thrilled to offer her a home here at Bravo," said Zalaznick. "Bravo continues to present the newest spin on arts and pop culture and find a way to deliver it from in the stage straight to our viewers' living rooms."

Griffin's "The D-List" started out as a down-and-dirty standup routine she performed weekly at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood, California. With her surreal celebrity encounters as a backdrop, the act soon became a sold-out show. From the "A-List" on down, celebrities soon realized no one would be safe from Griffin's pointed observations, barbs and wit.

In her first special, Griffin tells all about a backstage run-in with Whitney Houston at the "Billboard Music Awards," details an event-filled taping of "Hollywood Squares" with Little Richard, Chaka Kahn and Anna Nicole Smith ? and describes how she was set up by Rosie O'Donnell to take a "friendly" jab at Sharon Stone while performing at a benefit dinner.

Production is also underway with Griffin on a six-episode, one-hour unscripted series for Bravo to document the comic's life and efforts to keep her career afloat, titled "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List." Each episode will include a portion of Griffin's stand-up act or public appearance, as well as the behind-the-scenes negotiations and preparations that go into each performance. It's an insider's look at the indignities and encounters that can only happen when one is a well-known and under-appreciated comic doing what it takes to make a living. The series is slated to air on the network later this year.
