Terminal Prognosis for 'Tarzan,' 'Dragnet,' 'Brotherhood'
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- While the networks themselves have yet to publically confirm it, sources at the production offices for the WB's "Tarzan," ABC's "L.A. Dragnet" and CBS' "The Brotherhood of Poland" have all confirmed that their respective series have been canceled.

"Tarzan," which comes from Warner Bros. Television, had production on the series shut down yesterday after its eighth episode. The final three installments are scheduled to run on the remaining three Sundays of the November sweeps period.

As for Universal Network Television's "L.A. Dragnet," in addition to being pulled from ABC's schedule, production will be shut down on the second-year series following the completion of its tenth episode this season. The five remaining installments are expected to be burned off by ABC at a later date.

Lastly, sources at 20th Century Fox Television's "The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H." which has been on broadcast and production hiatus since October 23, also are saying their show is indeed dead. Creator David E. Kelley pulled the plug on production of the series shortly after being told CBS had yanked it from its schedule.

Just four other series have been canceled this season: "Luis" and "Skin" from FOX and "Coupling" and "Boomtown" from NBC. UPN's "The Mullets" and NBC's "The Lyon's Den," both which have been on broadcast hiatus since late October, are also expected to get the axe however production is still continuing on each series' initial 13 episode orders.
